Yo folks! I’m looking for onboard air. Just to inflate my tires after off-roading. I’ve seen the ARB systems but they are crazy priced for a tiny compressor. Am I missing something? Are there less expensive alternatives that are still reliable? What’s everyone using??

@Bannock452 mount with whatever compressor. His ismade to work with ARBs but a lot of guys have fit their other compressors on pretty easily.

Nice! I’d like to wire it up permanently. I guess that can be done with a switch and relay.

You definitely could, but I’m gonna rig up a plug so I can hook it up to the trailer connection rather than the battery directly.

Oh crap, that’s a great idea! Is there enough amperage at the plug?

I’m sure the Smitty is a knockoff of the Viair anyway. They look eerily similar. Lol

Pricey buy in for the ARB but parts are widely available and inexpensive. The Viair (@joonbug which model) is a reliable alternative. It's really simple to plumb air lines to all four wheel wells for airing up all four tires at once. With a 5th outlet I'm also able to air down all four at once.

I went with the ARB Dual. Ran a VIAIR portable unit in the past and it took way to long to inflate. Maybe 20+ minutes for four tires to take from 10psi to 35psi on Jeep with 35's. The ARB Dual will do 2 34' tires from 20psi t0 50psi in 3min 15seconds. So much better. Mounted it on @Bannock452 mount.

I used that smittybilt compressor for years with no issue but I wanted something permanent. I got the mount and a arb dual compressor on sale last Black Friday. The smittybilt one is bigger than it looks in the picture. It’ll take up alot of room in whatever storage area you use.

That’s good to know. Do you happen to remember what you paid for the ARB? I can hold out till the end of the month to hope for a sale.

I paid $542+tax on Amazon with free shipping. I also get 5% off Amazon Prime since I have the Amazon card. That was the best price I could find.

No problem. I found that I never aired down because it was a pain to air back up. Now that's not a consideration.

I paid $478.88 on nov 21, 2019, + tax, - 5% for the Amazon store card, so just before the big Black Friday sales. It was in my cart and I noticed the price dropped. That was the lowest I ever saw it go. There is a guy on here too that does group buys every so often. I forgot his name. He doesn’t post much, only the group buys. Maybe someone else will know who I’m talking about.

I also got the arb manifold and an extra hose. I mounted the arb on that mount by the firewall on the passenger side and mounted the manifold just in front of the windshield washer fluid reservoir. The hose is permanently attached from the compressor to the manifold, and I only have to hook up a hose to the manifold. It’s easier since it’s right in front. I can take a pic tomorrow if you want to see it.

Currently working on my compressor set up. Just got it mounted up today. I initially bought the bannock mount, but my stillen intake box was too big for it to fit. I wish I could have used it because it’s very well made.

I had mine mounted under hood with a Victory 4x4 mount. It got too hot, and the mount broke at the firewall. Huge pain in the ass to service mounted under hood as well. Moved to where spare used to be.

This is the mount I’m using in my install this weekend. I’m also installing my version of the wifey air system. Mounting the wifey manifold using the Rago mount in front of the compressor.

As much as I like that setup, my tire is still under there. Can I see how you mounted your air chucks?
