So after having my Tundra about a month now I absolutely love the truck. Have done a lot of stuff to it already and have more stuff on order. However I'm really annoyed at the plastic/rubber steering wheel. It feels so freaking cheap to me. What have ya'll done to fix this?

I have thought about doing one of these black with red stitching but seem like a royal pain.

I used the same one on my previous build. Over all pretty good quality, my red indicator was a little off center but other than that top notch product. Easy to install yourself as well

Yes, it’s a loncky. If you email them they can do custom ones for you. That’s what I did with the one you see pictured

I did a sew on kit. It wasn’t that bad. I pulled the steering wheel (didn’t need a puller) which helped. It didn’t turn out perfect but it’s a huge improvement. The leather is a little lighter and I may redo it sometime if I can find a closer match.

My '21 Pro came with a leather one.

It was just a bonus, because I was all ready to swap or upgrade it. Then I saw a video review and noticed that the 21's were actually using leather from the factory - even though the "compare" tool on the Toyota website says otherwise.

The 2020 and up trd pro is based off the limited platform, hence the leather wheel and heated seats. Prior to that they were based on sr5

My limited had leather but wanted a better feel. I did this without removing the steering wheel. Wasn't too bad. Could have applied more double sided tape.

I used the Loncky all black leather cover with black thread. I thought the red thread would show mistakes more, so stayed away from it. Turned out perfect, but it was quite time consuming. Plan on spending the day without your truck. Remove the steering wheel, don't attempt this with the wheel on the truck. Take your time and it will pay off.

I am pretty happy with the way mine has turned out. Meso Customs black overlay Toyota emblem and then I wrapped the silver parts with Vivvid black metallic vinyl. What do you guys think?

Nice work. I did the same on my previous SR5. I did have to use a wheel puller but that was the easy part. It was definitely a full day of work. Like you said, have to take time and not be afraid to remove and back up a few stitches at a time. The feel is incredible though and it looks fantastic. My '20 Pro came with a leather(?) wheel that is stitched. Not as soft as the Loncky, but a bit neater. Now, if it were only heated!

    LOOKS GREAT!!

I just found a steering wheel off a 4Runner that was totaled out with only 1600 miles for $250 so I jumped on it. Just waiting for it to come in now

how tough was the vinyl to trim and apply. I keep thinking about buying the black trimmed parts or the ones from the 4runner to swap out, but damn if that isn’t a lot of money for changing the color of a steering wheel.

If you’re familiar working with vinyl then I’d say it’s not too bad. If you prep it with alcohol, take your time and use primer for the areas that would typically lift like in the corners of the tight spots it will turn out perfect. Since that picture I have redone it and you would never know it’s wrapped IMO.
