I have a 19 Pro, have read some ppl finding out they had remote start not realizing the vehicle came with it. Thought it was primarily limited and platinum trims, so never tried it. Tonite I decided to give it a shot, not expecting it to work. 3 presses of lock, lights flashed and truck started with doors locked. Unlocked door and got in and truck continued running, placed key in ignition and turned to on, then turned off and truck continued running. Put key back to on and put truck into gear and then park, truck then shut off with key, this was not my understanding of how factory remote start worked, expected truck to shut off when door opened. So 19+ Pro owners might want to try remote start. This truck was 6 months old when I bought it, so maybe original buyer ordered remote start?

I have a 2021 Limited, it shuts off when I unlock the doors. That’s very odd. Mine also has push button start with no key in the ignition so I’m not sure if that plays a role in any of this.

My '20 Plat is like yours, quits running as soon as you unlock the doors - how stupid is that!

Ditto on my 2020 Sports. Shuts off when door is opened. It is stupid in my opinion. On my former Honda Ridgeline, you just had to press the start button (after you remote start) before you put into gear and it would stay running. If you put into gear first it would kill the engine.

Come on really now, how hard is it to start the truck if it shuts off when you open the door?

Sounds like the OP has an aftermarket remote start. His isn’t working like the oem one.

It's not hard at all, I just think having to start the truck again causes extra wear and tear on the starting components. Just my opinion.

It can't be aftermarket if its the factory fob starting it i wouldn't think.

And I've tried it 3 or 4 times now and each time it remains running when I unlock and open door, I place key in ignition and turn to on position and drive off.

My aftermarket one uses the key fob. The oem one cuts the engine when you open the door.

Interesting, where would you find the aftermarket module if it's not factory?

It's plausible It's aftermarket, the truck had 3k miles on it when I bought it.

I think the turn off feature is a security thing, yeah?

As others have said - it’s an aftermarket remote start system. Much better than the OEM system.

'20 Pro here. Factory remote start. Shuts off when door is opened. Frustrating feature, but intended to deter theft. I installed the 12V Solutions remote start on my previous '18 SR5 and absolutely loved it. Superior design to the factory, but I'm not going buy another for the Pro.

12V Solutions remote start uses the factory fob.

Look up Fortin, that’s the name of the remote start that uses the factory key fob and is most likely what is installed in the op’s pro. It’s what I have and it works great.

Look under the dash behind the steering column area above the pedals. See if there is a little box and some wires that seem out of place.
