Yep. Just cleaned up some pics out of the files. Reporting back on the longevity. So far so good.

    Pretty simple.
    Remove tailgate.
Take their template and make the two marks.
    Drill two holes.
    Install into tailgate.
Reinstall tailgate at a 45degree angle while putting the bar in 2nd hole.
    Bada-bing

It says in the description that it works for 2004 -2007 Tundras. Any idea if this will work on 2000-2003 models as well? Im definitely doing this mod though if its compatible! Thanks for the heads up!

Hey guys. If you drill into your truck for that torsion thingy, then you might void your warranty.

I think @Lil Steve said he should have drilled his hole a little higher than the template directed, but otherwise its a great mod. Costs less than my strut one, too. I wonder if I could do an extra rez mod on mine?

So this torsion bar would make the other strut style one not necessary correct? Sounds like the torsion bar helps with opening and closing, while the strut only helps with closing?

@PHM: maybe both would be the best, do it!

EDIT: Reading reviews on Amazon, it seems a lot of people use the torsion assist with the strut style assist and they work perfectly together. Maybe ill try that after i install this torsion version.

Yeah, the strut helps tremendously with opening gate. The gate opens into its normal free fall and then the strut catches the weight a little before halfway down slowing it to a soft landing. Right now I’m good with this set up because it was that drop before the strut install that I did not like. I have no problem with closing the gate, but that torsion assist up would be nice.

I remember those reviewers you mention about using both.

I think an issue you may run into would be that your overall height of tailgate and bed are shorter than ours but I’m not sure.

Finally got around to rebuilding my boat rack. I took apart the whole rack so I could scrap off all the old dupli color bed liner. I found a local shop to have it professionally bedlined. It only cost 100$ witch I thought was a pretty good price. I made new lower crossbars and reposioned the gas struts to get more lift out of them. Got it all done in time for a week long camping and fishing trip.20200809_160325.jpg 20200818_163811.jpg 20200830_145546.jpg 20201025_105008.jpg 20201025_120224.jpg 20201025_120409.jpg 20201021_113843.jpg 20201020_171526.jpg 20201022_092323.jpg IMG_2320.jpg 20201024_115412.jpg 20201022_104704.jpg20201021_184319.jpg

Cleaned up the new center console a little bit. Found a switch that fit for the ditch lights and found a usb plug for the audio.

I was rolling with that style for a year before I found a proper switch, but my dangle was next to the dimmer. Nice upgrade.

This is really nice. Is that trim piece with the cutouts stock? Mine is just a flat trim piece and I'm going to have to cut holes for my USB and switches. Would really rather not do that because I'll probably goof it up.

Got the GX460 calipers and rotors installed today. Based on other feedback I wasn't expecting I'd need to cut the dust shield so that was a surprise. I don't have a cutting tool so I had to use pliers. Haven't had a chance to drive it far but I now have a horribly soft pedal even though I bled them twice. I'm not sure what I'll try next.

I may have to switch to banjo fittings unless I can faness that hard line further away from the suspension.

    Looks so purty!

The soft pedal has been my big concern with doing this. Seems like mixed reviews on how bad it is and some trucks are worse than others. The preferred fix is the T100 brake master.

People have claimed switching calipers lead to permanent soft pedal? I just assumed I still had some air in the lines I need to work out. The last time I replaced my brake lines it took a few attempts to get the pedal firm-ish again.

Softer is better? Maybe if the new calipers are working better than the old set up, the soft pedal might be a thing to learn to deal with?
When I did a really rocky decent with rob, my abs pump? I assume was noisy AF most of the ride down and towards the bottom I kept getting soft/no pedal pressure!!!!! I topped off the Reservoir but it was still strange the pump was activating so much.

    14wa 1.89" pistons vs 13wl 1.81"

    1.81 dia. piston area is 2.57 in³. X 4 = 10.28 in³
    1.89 dia. piston area is 2.81 in³. X 4 = 11.24 in³

So just about 1" in additional area the brake fluid presses against in total. Makes sense that the pedal would be softer, as your foot needs to travel further to make up the difference.

Fluid was cooking/boiling. DOT3 boil temp is way lower than DOT5.1.

Eriks case is a different problem.
