No they didn't have any within 100 miles but Lowe's had a bunch in stock and both are right by my house. Same price. Thanks for the heads up on this deal!

That's a great price, I bought that kit over 4 years ago for $299. That yellow MAMBA has more power than most of us need at home. I was already invested in the DeWalt 20v line of tools so it made sense to stay with DeWalt. It doesn't see too much use at home now (it's overkill), but when I was working that DCF899 easily removed the truck lug nuts in our fleet that were torqued to 475 ft-lbs. At home this 3/8" impact wrench is my go to and it does great.

I'll second this recommendation for the 20v adapter if anyone has the older 18v tools since the 18v NiCd batteries are more expensive and much heavier than the 20v Lithium-Ion batteries. If one does leave the battery connected and it wont charge properly, it's easy to reset.

 

Interesting. I've never had to do a 'reset' on them but I'll file it away.

Should be noted though that the batteries have a protection built into them so that they don't drain fully. From the sounds of his video he kept ignoring it by turning the light back on.

 

If I leave my 20v battery plugged into my DeWalt leaf blower for about a week or so, it will drain it to the point where none of the lights on the battery gauge will come on. It seems to be a common problem with the older style blower I have. Initially I thought I had a bad battery but after some Googling (is that a word?) I was able to reset the battery by momentarily jumping power from a good battery to the "dead" one. After that it will take a charge. If I deplete the battery until the tool shuts off, I can still charge it, but there's something about leaving the battery connected to my blower that drains it to the point where I get an error on the charger when trying to charge it.

 

Those will cause havoc in the endangered gnat population. Probably take out some bats too. Bad juju!

 

that thing is a hoss, I use it when we frame power poles at work. Makes short work of punching holes and hanging transformers.

The oil cans were Miss Peggy’s drink of choice after her 5am-12pm shift. She opened the watering hole(oldest bar in town) for 25 years everyday. They had to limit her due to cabs not wanting to take her home. RIP Miss Peggy.

After last night, I thought I'd drink one, or two beers. I drink nowhere near the amount I used to.

I pulled the tequila out of the fridge, looked at the bottle, and said "Nah." Went for the beer instead to take the edge off.

Shower, and bed for me. First beer since April.

Will someone please post a pic of the wire and connectors between the hood latch and the release thing at the base of the grill? I'd rather fab one than buy a new assembly for $50. Thanks

 

Thanks, this required getting a new slide-in charger. Found a genuine OEM charger DCB115 charger for $27 shipped and a OEM battery DCA1820 for $23 shipped. Curses to the auction site for their taxes and fees adding on an extra 15% to the purchase, but for $58 to make my DW053 functional again versus $200+ for a new tool kit, I'm down. Sucks about the battery drain if left on charger, but I've come to expect that these days if you leave a NiCD or LI battery on the charger or the tool. Sounds like @Lil Steve had similar issues, thanks Steve for the tip on how to resuscitate a drained pack.

Are you talking about the wired switch that is part of the latch? Mine was mangled by someone using a screwdriver to move a stuck catch in there.

I ended up buying a used Sequoia latch off eBay.

Ahh thanks but no.

I mean the 1/8" or 3/16" thick steel wire that runs from the back of the base of the grille to the hood catch thingy that holds the hood down after you pull the hood release in the cab. And any associated plastic clips or whatever. The wire is about 8 inches long.

I have the part you squeeze with your fingers to open the hood and the steel hook that holds the hood down. Just missing the stuff that connects them.


And the hood release lever in the cab, cable, and hood release all work great.

Its a 2001 so maybe they changed things in later models.
