That seems like a really good deal. It's not their most powerful one but I wonder if it's enough.

The lights are always my favorite, but I always find the best milwaukee lights at the most random places. I see they have the smaller rover pocket light but that one isn’t usb rechargeable.
Most end up at my house lost in the kids toy box after they are done blinding themselvs

 

Yeah, I was reading more about that kit. That tool is the same size as the Mamba but has less than half as much power. I've been watching videos online and a lot of guys seem to think the Mid Torque is the way to go. It has all the power you'd need for 90% of jobs but is smaller and weighs less than big boy. I'm going to keep researching.

 

I browsed the lights they have. I almost bought another headlamp, but I always end up misplacing them.

Using it at night as a personal lantern always makes me think of walking around a train station late at night carrying something like this.

That square one is kinda lanterny like that one you got, it takes the m12 batteries
But the rover stick lights are the jam when I’m above ceiling grid working on fan coils

 

I may have to do some investigation on those. A small light that I can clip onto my shirt would be supremo.

Yeah usb rechargeable, usually lasts me all day unless I’m stuck in the ceiling for a long time with it on. It doesn’t have a compression clip per say, but it stays on my pants pocket well. The base is magnetic as you can see, and has no issues staying put horizontally. Dual brightness.

 

I think this might be the ticket. 2 XC 5.0 batteries, 1 tool, charger, case- $299. I don't know which high output batteries you guys were recommending but the high demand 9.0 has horrible reviews on their website. Maybe go a size smaller if I buy an extra battery?

I think you've found your kit.

For your projected use, I would say that two XC 5.0s should be fine. Maybe another XC 5.0 unless you explicitly want the "High Demand."

Edit: I just remembered that I have a 9.0 HD that came with my weed eater. I'm wondering if the "kit" batteries are of a high quality, than the individually sold batteries. I've never had an issue with mine, but when I'm using the big boy toys like the leaf blower, the weed eater, or the pole saw I typically reach for the big boy battery first. The big ole 12.0

Could have been a bad batch at the factory, or maybe something wrong in the cells.

Not sure if you guys have ever taken one of these batteries apart like I have... I broke an M12 battery housing one time, and took the plastic apart to fix it. The M12 was just a bunch of 18650 batteries tied together.

I'm sure the M18s are the same.

 

5's should be more than fine. I've got the 3ah for my hammer drill at work and 1 battery drilled 16, 7/8", holes in concrete block with a little left over. They're about 4 years old too with minimal charge loss.

I know the forum here loves Milwaukee, and for good reason, but as far as a deal goes, this one seems superior....less expensive, 95% of the quality, MORE Powerful, GREAT reviews and Made in America. At some point if we don't actually buy American when we are given a legit alternative (cost and quality comparable) to a Chinese option, then we don't really believe choosing a legit American alternative to the Chinese option is important.

 

I just bought that Dewalt kit from Lowes (same price as HD). At $199 it's hard to beat.

 

Ugh. You got me there. I was drawn to the Milwaukee I linked because it's essentially half the weight as this one, and able to fit in tighter spaces. A lot of people said the big ones won't fit where you need them and the mid torque offered plenty of power. But now you have me thinking I need to do what I said and go with an American made option. I'm sure I won't be disappointed. I would just need a 2nd battery.

 

I picked up one of the Dewalt 18V units back in '08, model # on it is DW059, paid $202 with shipping on eBay, won it at $177. Has all the power I've ever needed and more, and I was doing some really heavy stuff at the time on 50-70 year old vehicles.

1st battery ate crap after 4-5 years, other died a couple years back and I need to replace but haven't done it yet. I'm sure leaving them on the charger all the time didn't help - back then, smart chargers that would turn off after a full charge was reached weren't necessarily popular or widely available.

I can get the model number if it helps. I really need to get off my ass and buy new packs.

 

Oddly enough, Home Depot won't let me buy it. It's not in stock within 100 miles and ship to home isn't an option. So if I go this route, I'll have to buy from Lowe's. I'm glad you called that out.

 

They may still have it. I check HD all the time and it says limited stock, but I go to the store and more often than not they generally have a few in stock...if you live/work close to HD, it's worth checking in person.

The tools run for a lot longer on the 5ah 20v batteries plus you can get some deals on bare tools. I'm using them on my circa 2000 18v tools, the only complaint is you can't leave the battery attached to the adapter overnight or the circuitry for the conversion drains the battery.

Go VW specs: tighten until torque spec is reached, then tighten 1/4 turn.
