Ironman 4x4 Suspension

Hey, George! I’m thinking about getting Ironman to replace the original TRD shocks on our 2001 4Runner; please share your review once you get to test them on and off-road.

So far on the street they have been great. I need to get out to the dunes but my work schedule has been putting that on hold. I have this retaining wall that’s shaped exactly like an articulation ramp that I have been meaning to just drive up for “experimental reasons” but keep forgetting to do/not a bunch of time with me and the 4Runner at the house at the same time.

Darn. I was hoping they’d be relatively easy to crank up or down. Anyway, thanks for the adjusting tips.

 

The only ones supposedly “easy” to adjust on the truck are Icons. But they work differently... progressive vs. digressive, so there's more to selection than just ease of adjustment.

 

yeah I wish you could get the springs in black at least.

 

I kind of like the green.

 

Me too..I think my set up is really great, but I kinda don't like the color. Only the coil springs are green and you can't see in there very well. Ironman might be loosing business because of this. They should try a grey smoke color if they want to be different. Maybe a name change too.

 

I keep going back and forth between these and OME, but I think I'll be doing this kit eventually. Around $2k (on sale) for adjustable fronts, new leaf springs, and new upper arms, it's hard to avoid that deal. I don't really mind the green either. It's not exactly my first choice, but it's not a focal point anyway.

 

The kit seems great, the reviews sound promising, but for me it would be army and neon green on the same truck. Just can't bring myself to do it.

Yeah, black or grey, I'd be all over it.

 

Fashion over function isn't my choice...if the color is the largest hurdle for some, sheesh! Spend $80 than and have them powder coated and you're still less expensive than much of the competition! I like the suspension reviews and story behind them and I will certainly look into these when I'm ready for the lift...

Yeah, I actually don't blame you there. I have nothing that would clash with this except maybe the red sway bar, but that's no big deal lol. I'm more focused on performance and longevity.

I am curious about the ball joints in the Upper control arms they make. Like what options are there to replace the ball joints when needed?

 

The green is a new color as of January this year. Previously they were yellow. They just went through a rebrand but not a name change. When a guy I work with told me his friend worked there I googled them and it still took me like a week to put it together it was the same company from Australia.

I personally wasn’t a fan of the green at first but it started to grow on me. I asked before I went over to see their shop if they could be changed and they said yeah you (after purchase)could powder coat them whatever color you want. We obviously left them green.

 

Hey Guys.
I just installed Ironman4x4 Stage2 kit. Gained 3” front and 2” rear.
Quality of this kit is very high.
You can see right away it’s built to last and perform for many miles on and off road.
I had bilstein 6112/5160 combo before, set 1.9” front and 1” shackles rear
Ride quality is totally different. Bilsteins felt like pogo stick compare to Foam cell pros.
Ironman feels like is glued to the road.
Will see how long they gonna last.
So far very happy.

I believe this is the way I’ll eventually go too. Hopefully I can jump on it before they hike the price tag. Truck looks awesome, man.

I had bilsteins for 45K and I was living in idea they are good but this is next level for sure.

 

Looks good. This is almost identical to what I’m trying to do with mine. Even bronze SCS. Wife hasn’t agreed on wheels but now I have a good example to show her.

 

That will be my next big addition. Can't wait.

 

SCS wheels are awesome, just hard to get them. Always sold out

 

The wife’s 4runner(above) has Stealth 6’s. Just randomly checked the site one day and they were their. So I ordered them. Waiting to see what the new Tundra release is before I decide on which ones to get.

I got GX460 for my wife, did dobinsons lift with Ironman UCAs.
How do you like Toyo at3?
I got set for Lexus first and I felt in love so I dump falkens from my tundra and installed Toyos.
Much better ride. Falkens after 40K started to by very loud. Almost same story like with bilsteins, good and no good.

 

Oh we ended up not getting AT3’s. That was the route I wanted to go. They were out of stock and we ended up getting the DT exclusive Goodyear wrangler whatever they are called... I can’t remember at the moment. If I lift my Tundra I think I’m going similar build. Ironman, SCS but will get the AT3’s.

Edit: I like the GX’s. The guys at Ironman have one and it’s pretty cool.

 

Those Wranglers are good looking tires too.
I was between 4Runner pro or GX
GX won because V8 and I can build to my needs.

 

Your gonna love those Ultraterrains I have had mine for a little over a couple months and they r awesome in all conditions.

 

Yeah!!! That’s what they are called. For the life of me I couldn’t remember. So far they have been good. But we have only had them for a couple months as well.

 

Question for you, did your kit come with bump stop spacers which are typically included with Bilstein 5100/6112/etc? I just ordered a set or pre-built Ironman Coilovers but didn’t see that in the description.
