    Hey all,

I'm still rocking the Tacoma, but have been looking at Tundras for a while now. Starting to post over here more often, so figured I ought to just say Hey and introduce myself.

Any questions, just shoot. Want to BS? I'm game for that too!

Which Tundra you thinking about? 1st Gen or 07 and up?

Well, I've been kind of holding off because I keep hearing that a new engine is in the works. Speculation of the LS400 twin turbo v6 to compete with the Ford EcoBoost. If Toyota were to drop that in, I'd consider being an early adopter and trading/selling the Tacoma.

Otherwise, my preference would be to get a 2nd gen with the lowest miles I could find in whatever budget my wife and I can agree upon and keep the Tacoma for hitting some of the local trails. My wife is pretty adamant about not having 3 vehicles for 2 adults. One of these days I'll find an argument that sticks :fistbump:

That ARB is nice. Wish I had the extra scratch to get one.

Love the Taco - I sort of wish that the Tundra took some more of the styling cues form the Tacoma. I got confirmation from the dealer where I bought mine that the new engine is a twin turbo v6 hybrid. No idea what the specs are though. I have no idea what it is like in your area, but Tundras with low miles are hard to find around here, and if you do, they command a high price. Hence why I went new. Plus, if you get the last year of the 5.7 V8, there is no doubt in my mind you can easily sell it down the road.

I ended up deciding on the Limited - as much as I could find with just the Limited package. The one I ended up with has the TRD package for the limited as well, which is fine. I'm not planning any suspension mods until I need a new suspension. We'll see how long that lasts...

That's good to know. And same here. Low mileage ones are very expensive. Might as well just get new at that point. We'll see what the future holds.

I had a 09 Taco that I drove up to AK and back. Alas, it had the 2.7L motor but it did have the manual transmission which I still prefer. Yota should offer at least one basic trim level with a manual. I'm old school on some things. Comes with being old...ha!

All manufacturers should offer a manual transmission on all models. Went to Europe a few years ago and was amazed at how many manual transmission cars there were. Wife had me drive everywhere :muscleflexing:

Had a hard shell on it. If I do anything to the back of it again, I won't be going soft....

Nice. Hadn't heard that one before!

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! My son drives a 2000 Taco - manual tranny, and absolutely loves it. The only newer vehicle he would currently consider is a newer Taco. I helped him with the first one. He knows that the next one is all on him. He's currently a sophomore at Alabama.
