I ve never had a facebook account, and never will. I see the way some are so enamered with it. That was a turn off to begin with, but the way social media shuts down certain types of thought, I will never be part of that. And I agree about craigslist. I ve bought all of my vehicles from craigslist. Gotten some good ones too. It was just a surprise to see a charge for an ad. Guess I ve not been on the site for a while. I ve been having too much fun with my Tundra, but when I saw the 2021 Camaro I had to have it, so Im selling my truck.

$5 seems to be reasonable for the advertising plus Craigslist offers you several means of communication and lets you determine what contact method and info you want out there at first. I always considered Facebook to be exactly what it started as.......a bored college kid vehicle of communication.

I was fine with paying the 5 bucks to sell my 04 tacoma, but in the end it sold on facebook and 90% of the messages I got were on facebook. I probably won't bother with CL next time, figures they wait until people are using their platform less to start charging.

I guess if someone wants to hold onto a moral or philosophical opposition to FB, that's fine. It's a free country. I use Marketplace, but you certainly don't have to engage in FB drama, read stupid comments, or be told what to think. I've cross listed a number of items on both CL and FB, and the exposure and speed of sale goes to FB, hands down.

From a buyer's perspective, I much prefer the search feature on CL (and Autotrader). I started looking at ads several months before I sold my old truck and was ready to purchase Tundra so I could get a good feel for market values. Using Autotrader, CarGurus, FB, and CL, two of my top three candidates were on CL (#1 sold before I could get back to buy it), and the truck I ultimately purchased was only listed on FB.

My two cents, your mileage may vary.

Yeah I was bummed to see the $5 charge too. At the end of the day its still worth it though. I posted in several different cities within 100 miles of me. Got more emails from craigslist then Facebook. In the end I sold it through Craigslist.

CL now charges $5 so you can get scammed. I listed a car for sale on CL and I still get a$$holes trying to scam me.
