I’m trying to narrow down a banging sound in the front passenger side tire/suspension area. Happens at pretty much any speed between 5-75mph when I hit a bad spot in the road or driving on dirt roads/trails that have imperfections. It bangs when the front right tire drops in a pothole or dip in dirt. I have no sway bar installed, the lower ball joint looks to be in great condition and the upper ball joint is new (new SPC knock-off UCA’s from Rock Auto). This started immediately after I lifted it. I’ve looked for anything hitting, re-torqued all suspension/steering components and can’t figure it out.
I believe it to be the shock (coil over) maxing out on extension but I’d like to rule out EVERYTHING else and looking for ideas. What are the common Tundra banging sounds coming from the front end steering/suspension?
    Thanks!

What lift and what new suspension components were replaced? Is it a spacer lift?

Well I have run OME suspensions on other trucks and always liked them. However, I did see a post here in the last 2-3 weeks or so about someone that installed an OME kit- one of the longer/heavier spring sets, and his truck ended up lifted like 4.5 inches, way over the 2.5 to 3 inches which is usual....it had little to no downtravel and did make a sound similar to what you describe. I think the shock or something was hitting something when the tire tried to move down, because the lift was so extreme. If you search OME suspension or OME lift here you can probably find the thread. Only other thing I can think of is to make sure the springs are seated and installed correctly.

That was me. I’m trying not to bring the lift into the equation as it’s been discussed ad nauseum. I’m trying to see if there’s common issues with the Tundras they may have coincidentally appeared the minute I installed the lift that I haven’t checked before I try to return these coilovers.
    Thanks.

Just had 4 guys rock the truck pretty good in the parking lot. It’s what I assumed, the shock is maxing out on extension and that’s what’s causing the banging, no doubt about it.
ARB, Wheeler’s and myself are at a loss as to why this 2.5” OME lift kit lifted my truck over 4.5”.
Hopefully Wheeler’s will let me return these coilovers so I can go with a set that I can actually drive off road with. FML.

What the hell Patriot! I thought you resolved this issue. If you were near me I'd find the problem whether it's in your mind or actually a real problem. It's so unusual....so don't take offense. Ha! I need to see your Tundra in front of me. Solution....drive out to Colorado. Plenty of us here could figure it out. Of course I'll need your keys to take it for a run before the snow hits the high country. :mudding:

The closest I got to figuring it out is ARB sending me another set of shocks with a set of the 614 springs. It lowered it 3/8th an inch, (10mm) which is the length difference between the 614 (medium) and the 613 (heavy) I originally installed.
If it wasn’t deer season, I’d shag ass up there tomorrow!
