If you use regular fuel you can do the regular 10,000 interval.

My 2017 was "broken in" by driving around town for the first 200 miles. :lalala:

I also had mine done at 5,000. Dealer had no problem doing it. My truck came with their protection plan that included 'free' oil changes for the first 2 years. They told me I only needed it at 10,000 intervals; I told them that I would prefer it done at 5,000, and they said okay and did it; no further discussion or argument. The dealer has been good to me (I have 3 Toyotas) on every car and all services.

I only drive my truck 6-7k miles/year. The dealer did my first Toyotacare oil change at 5k and said to bring it in at 10k for the second.

I had mine changed at 4000 miles, it has tons of 2 mile drives with cold starts in freezing weather, And dirt road driving for work. The oil was black. It was probably from fuel blow-by from it not warming all the way up for most of its drives.

They tried to give me shit about wanting it changed and i said look at the extreme or heavy duty use schedule. Or just charge it to the 10k mile change.

The tech came in and said the air filter was full of dust ( like I was going to be surprised). I said i know and i blow it out with air regularly. And got a new one.

My Toyotacare also stated 10,000. I asked for 5,000 and they have done that every 5,000 without any complaints or arguments. They basically said that I am the customer and if that's what I want then that's what they will do fore me. No extra cost. I guess it depends on the dealer. Maybe it also helps that I have been a client there for about 20 years and currently have 3 Toyotas, so I see them on a regular basis for oil changes.
Sometimes all three on the same day.

They're good tractors, don't get me wrong om that. I just don't agree with their testing methods right off the line. But it was really fun to watch!

A Toyota Master mechanic I know said that they put a lot of engine stress to every engine rebuild.

They rather have the engine fail at the dealership/shop instead of at the owners hand.

Technically, it's how it should be. Test it before sending it out.

I changed the factory oil at 1K miles and sent a sample to Blackstone labs. Result: significant amount of silicone in the oil. Guess that’s why the cam towers leaked so soon...LOL.
