Is this better than the TRD skid plate?

Yes sir. Which means you can drive over there and pick up an old stock one piece skid.

I actually want the two piece. If you need to access the oil pan or crossmember you don't have to remove the whole skid which is a good idea. They went from a two piece steel skid, then to one piece, and now back to a two piece. I just need to decide whether to go with Aluminum this time around. I just got off the phone with Austin at RCI........there will be a Xmas sale this year:thumbsup: :spending:

Good intel! I'm waiting for a Xmas or Black Friday sale as well. Definitely going for the aluminum. So much easier to maneuver if you need access above them...

I'm thinking it will be a Black Friday sale but RCI usually waits until the last minute...ha

What's cool is that I save on shipping. RCI is about 45 minutes from me.

Definitely recommend the aluminum!...and on sale is even better...lol...got mine with a promo code from the company mentioned above, was only 10%, but better than full price...I’ll be adding the transfer case skid as well, maybe I’ll wait to see what kind of sale they have coming up, thanks for the info!

Installed the skid this week. Took 15-20 minutes alone. Craftsmanship is top notch. Ordered RCI sliders last night.

I'm probably going with the non powder coated front skid in aluminium this time around and pc'd steel for the mid skid.

I like the look of the raw, but figured worse case scenario I could rattle can it black if I didn’t like it. I went powder coat on my sliders though ;).

I went with the steel skid and used a discount they were running at the time. Shipping wasn’t bad - about $45 shipped to VA. I was super impressed with the craftsmanship, and was way cheaper than the TRD skid plate.

Powder coat on armor isnt the best idea. Once you bust thru it, it’s like a sheet and will hold water in between the PC and metal, causing accelerated rust issues.

You can't really see the skid anyways, unless you bend down to look at it.... that's why I chose to stay with the bare aluminum

Gents , I am in a market for a Skid , contemplating between the RCI, TRD, or Victory4X4. I think the RCI and Victory looks the same , any idea which one is better , for easy access to oil filter and the drain plug ?

I could be wrong but I think the Victory one is thicker.

Go with the RCI. Victory 4X4 is banned here now. For good reason. TRD is overpriced like all TRD stuff.

Yes....see approved vendors list. Victory is no longer there. Usually not a good thing......

They have had numerous and repetitive quality control issues as well as negative customer service experiences to the point that enough people on this forum knew it was time to stop recommending them as a business to others. I have no dog in the fight at all and know that anyone can buy whatever they want. I went RCI as have many many others and I have yet to see one negative comment about it. There was some minor confusion recently about a one piece or two piece but that’s been resolved also.

    RCI. One and done.

the only issue I had with RCI skid plate was the hardware started to rust immediately. I contacted them for replacement, they said yes and I never received replacement hardware. Ended up getting some bolts at HD...
