About a year ... BUT once it went into production it was done inside of a month.

 

It was spendy but I could justify it for the added durability/versatility. Every part is replaceable and they put a lot of thought into the design.

 

Thanks for sharing this. After looking at yours, I realized I can't figure out what that big bracket even does. I took it off and put a washer in its place more like how yours is assembled. Seems to work fine now. Latches, locks, and opens like it should. Idk what else i could want.

I’m about to order a century cap from my local guy. He was talking me into the mid rise for the extra space and head room. I like the look of the cab high better though. Do you feel the head room is an issue? Do you camp in your bed ever?

 

This thread is making a topper harder and harder to wait for...

 

I’ve got an identical leer 100xr with a decked drawer system (10-11” tall) that I use to sleep on top of diagonally. It’s low so I can’t sit up without slouching hard...but not claustrophobic or anything to me. I would say the mid rise would be more comfortable but I also have no regrets with the cab high.

 

Which one have you ordered?

 

That’s good to know. I don’t see myself really camping in it that often. Maybe a couple nights a year, otherwise it’s ground tent for me. It’s amazing how the majority of caps I’ve seen on this thread are cab height.

 

I like the look of the mid highs just couldnt fit it in my garage if I got one. I'm about to get set up with the decked system as well and having second thoughts on not getting something a little taller. I have only done 2 overnights hunting and slept in the bed and head room was fine able to sit up and have a few cold ones and have the windoors open helped keep me cool. I think even when I get the decked it would be tight but doable. All in all it just depends on what you are going to do with it, considering 90% of the time I'm not out hunting the cab high it awesome for me, and during hunting I put a basket up top for added cargo. Other then that the bed is empty till i make a garbage run or full of baseball equipment.

Whatever you do get the WINDOOR SLIDERS!! and the rack system or atleast the tracks for it to add later. This is my 2nd Century topper and I really like it.

 

The mid rise is the way to go. The extra room is needed especially if you are putting in a deck system. I’m excited because mine is coming in on Saturday!

 

I went with a gold cap. I really like it.

 

None yet. I was planning on putting it off until our land cruiser bit the dust. They just look so damn good it’s making me want to get an early start

 

thanks for the reply. I think if I was really planning to camp a bunch in it I would be more inclined to get the mid rise. But it will mostly be to keep stuff protected and maybe the dog will move back there instead the back seat. I’m not sure if I will ever put a decked system in there or something like a bed slide or build something. I will definitely get Windsor sliders and the tracks installed by the factory. Planning to get Yakima hd bars on the top.

 

The windoor slider were the single most useful addition to the topper. I added to my base cap Windoor Sliders, Roof rack, carpet lining, removable sliding front window, and the dealer added a free led dome light. Right now I have the undercover swing gate storage containers and they are ok but do not hold alot of items or weight. I'm gonna ditch them and add the decked system for more even distribution of weight more then anything. And it will help make the 5.5' bed a little more usable once the wheel wells are covered up. I think you made a good choice with century weather you get a cab high or mid high you will be happy with it.

ARE z series. I can’t imagine not having a topper. Just keeps all your stuff dry and secure. I may add the power lock to it and the tailgate at some point.

 

Looks good. Definitely power locks on both. I've done a lot of mods in the 5 months that I've owned mine, but topper is #1, locking topper #2 and locking tailgate #3.

Looks great! I have a Z-series as well - are you going to do the power lock yourself, or take it to the A.R.E. dealer? My dealer has terrible service and I'm trying to avoid them if possible.

 

I’d do it myself.....the part is $300 though!

 

Request from a newbie regarding ARE MX shell, Could one of you who have one give me the dimensions from the bed floor to the cap ceiling? Ive looked at the specs on ARE website but they only reference height to opening and that does not really help in my use case. Thanks

 

Can anyone speak to the quality of ProTops? Any reason why I shouldn’t buy one? They seem to be about half the price of the major brands. But before I jump in on one, would like to get your experiences.
Side note: If anyone in San Diego is looking to sell a camper shell for a silver crewmax, hit me up!!

 

I have a ProTop on my 2013 CrewMax. It has the fabric headliner, sliding side windows and the front window folds down. I would say the fit and finish is 8 out of 10..... just minor things like the mounting screws on the windows.... other than that, it has been great the past 2 years.

I would say any canopy can be good or bad. I might tend to stay away from Pro Top since I've never heard of them but my Leer apparently came with a bad seal on the door and I would think they're one of the better manufacturers.
