Everything in moderation. IMHO, the grill of a 1794 exceeds that moderation.

Hmm... I’ve not owned vintage or polished but you may be on to something. Could explain why I think the chrome is fine and only own silver tow vehicles.:)

I think it looks good with certain colors - the 1794 bronze mica being one of them. I wish they'd come up with a brushed nickel or some kind of matte color. I think that could look pretty sweet.

    Aluminum reigns! LOL

We have 3 vintage Airstreams but none polished. YET. The '67 Safari will possibly get there by next summer.

I was very close to going with a silver tow vehicle, but the Cavalry blue called to me. I had a blue/silver two-tone 1984 Chevy 3/4 ton, a 1997 Laguna blue GMC, and so I had to stick with the blue tradition. But I will always love the silver!

I don't like it and it's not even a position that I've moved to per the times. I always hated the chrome on my '06 as well.

I'm not crazy about chrome but my platinum Tundra is Silver Sky Metallic and it came with chrome. I'm not yet ready to spend time and $$ to delete the chrome. I'll live with it for now.

I think a little chrome is ok...like chrome steel bumpers. But I'm not crazy about the excessive amount of chrome that some people add on. I was never a fan of chrome wheels even when it was popular in the early 2000s. Every style/fad is a cycle...right now color matched or blacked out is popular. I'm sure chrome will make it's way back also.

To be quite honest I never gave it a second thought until it was brought up on this website, now that I look at my new truck it does have a lot of chrome but it’s OK, I can live with it. I just can’t see spending all the money to dechrome it, I’m going to get some black matte vinyl from a friend that owns a vinyl shop and try to overlay it over the chrome bumpers to see how that works, very inexpensive way to dechrome it in my opinion, if I don’t like it I can peel it back off

I like chrome in varying amounts depending on the truck color and rims. I deleted it on my 2018 because I bought the sport model which is already mostly color matched and I like the black badges better on the MGM. I previously had a bright blue 08 and with the chrome bumpers it had a nice balance. I think there will always be a place for chrome!

I like chrome on trucks and SUVs. I liked the old Tacoma and 4Runner with chrome bumpers. Especially in silver.

I think it looks good in trucks and SUVs because the bumpers are separate from the rest of the panels.

With cars and crossovers, I prefer no chrome because the bumpers have to contoured with the body. It looks out of place with chrome. Unless is a grill like on a Mercedes.

When we bought our 1794 tundra and brought it home I was on the fence as to spend the money to de-chrome it or not. because I don’t mind the chrome.

When the kids saw the truck first thing they said was all the chrome is showing your age... well it wasn’t long till it was de-chromed

Plus it’s made me look a lot younger and its a lot faster with it all white so win win

I think it depends on the vehicle...trucks, imo, are more utility vehicles that we want to look militarized...and plastic chrome just rubs me the wrong way.

Well of course YOU would. LOL. Best to heed the warning by the mighty Hetfield though: “Darkness imprisoning me.” Don’t be a prisoner to the dark Luis. Embrace the chrome and all things shiny.

I don't really think any chrome looks good. It seems like a hold over from a bye-gone era. I do agree that the plastic chrome is absolute crap, and chromed steel is less-so. For all newer trucks, the upmarket versions all come with color match or chrome delete kits already so you can tell it's being pushed out of the industry little-by-little. That being said I work for a company that sells "chrome delete" kits. So take what I say with a huge grain of salt lol.

    Hey Chromies,

I don't mid the chrome, Blue Berry has some as a matter fact, and I have no plans to alter it. I think I would rather have a Tundra that came without so much chrome, but I am ok with it either way. No plans to alter it. I hate the all black bumpers people are making to cover up the chrome, that is even worse looking in my option, but everyone's taste is different, so to each their own.

I agree, earlier I saw that post and had the thought, if that trailer had a black anodized look, it would be even better.

While part of me thinks “blasphemy!” haha, I have seen some vinyl wrapped Airstreams that look pretty sweet. But having dealt with the AC not keeping up with summer temps when it is reflective, I can’t imagine what it would be like wrapped in black.

Im good with the chrome and left all the factory stuff on the truck.
I think the painted/color matched shit is more appropriare on a soccor mom minivan.

The grill surround and bulge on mine both are. Some with chrome door handles are plastic as well.
