Have it, I left my truck in 4wd, better yet it was my dads truck. I drove 130 miles home and
Never went past 55mph towing a fckn toy hauler! So pissed at myself, gona take it to the
Shop get the transfer and front differential fluid changed!!

 

If you didn’t feel/hear any binding on turns you should be fine.

 

Probably just damaged your wallet with the gas mileage.

 

Towing in 4wd is not in itself harmful. In fact its recommended to tow in 4wd whenever you are in conditions in which you would be running 4wd while not towing. The harm comes in turning in 4wd when there is good traction. This can cause severe damage. If you didn't hear or feel the binding you are probably OK.

I wouldn’t worry! People with supercharged Tundras go full out in 4X4! 55 towing I doubt caused any problems? My brother worked his hard in deep mud getting in and out stuck all day with mud totally pack in everything! I’d bet those transfer cases got way hotter?

 

Yah taking it to my mechanic tomorrow, feel like a imbecile and i was a part time professional truck driver! I guess that is what happens when im not driving a familiar truck like our
Tundra with a 4WD indicator in our gauge cluster!

I wouldn't worry about it. When I was in high school I heard of a lady from my town that drove 1.5hours away to go shopping in her Jeep...left it in 4 low the whole day. IDK how she didn't figure that one out trying to go on the interstate.

 

That's why I wish we had the ability to lock/unlock diffs.....like my 01 4runner can do, why not newer trucks Toyota?

 

Yes it was a chevy 06 lbz the last best diesel. Dam 4x4 indicator is in far left eye sight and has no indicator on gauge cluster (execuses).

 

It does disengage over 62 mph. Hwy travel - you’re good.

 

It does? Never heard of that before.
I think the owners manual says that in order to ENGAGE 4wd on the fly you need to slow down to under 62
