I need some guidance. I am having some paintwork done and while my truck is in the shop I want them to go ahead and paint some front bumper caps so that I can cover up the chrome. I have a 16 Magnetic Grey Metallic Tundra. What exactly do I need to buy so that they can paint them? I do have the sensors so I will need the ones with the holes. I know SparksParts sells them but so does BumperShellz. What is the difference? Is one better than the other? There's a good price difference between the two.

Here are the links for both. Thanks in advance for any advice!

To my understanding paintable bumper end caps from Toyota are stand alone, as in you will remove your metal bumper ends and install those plastic pieces. The bumpershellz are installed ontop of your existing metal bumpers.
Unsure what part of the country you are in, but some up north do not like the bumpershellz because you could get rust forming between the layers and not see it. Others don't have the issue. If you are in the south it isn't as much of a concern.
I don't have either, still rocking the chrome. But that is the gist of their differences.

So would you think buying the unpainted ones from sparks parts and having them painted would be a better route?

Define better? Your end result will look almost identical. It just depends how you want to get there.
Me personally with living in Texas and not worrying about salted roads, I'd go bumpershellz because I like having a metal bumper end just incase.

Could you post a pic of the finished product as I am interested in this alternative as well? I have a 2018 Crewmax color 218 (Black). I've found both

    https://www.ecoological.com/store/p57/2014-2020_Tundra_Front_BumperShellz.html

    and

    https://caliraisedled.com/products/...front-bumper-cover-set?variant=31416552259626

They look to be the same product but the Caliraised doesn't charge shipping. What I don't understand is the difference between "matte black" and "paintable ABS." Curious to see the finished product as the middle of my bumper is matte black. Thanks in advance.

You will have to remove your entire bumper assembly (front only in your case) to install the OEM ones.

That will either add to your cost or time if it's DIY.

I went bumper shells for that reason and I want the durability of the chrome (steel) on my bumper ends. They haven't arrived yet, so no pics

FBC1B17D-121C-416E-8174-6D14F55DFAB6.jpg I just switched from the original bumper that was on my 1784 to a full TRD pro take off.
Originally was planning on getting a set of corners from Sparks on our spring road trip in April ...with boarder crossings closed for essential travel we put it on hold. Lucky someone posted a add with full bumper assembly.
I have zero knowledge on the covers but feel up here with salt getting behind it’s not properly our best option plus I like the to have factory parts.
As to not having the chrome behind the factory resin corners .. chrome isn’t stopping much in fact might cause greater damage when pushed up against something else. Definitely less work than switching out the chrome. D5CEF58D-9E0A-430C-B7E5-F56D2743CD7E.jpg
Either way colour matching will look good.
Took about 2 hours to pull off and reassembled. Looks worse than it really is. There’s a good how to Video on Tundras.com worth checking it out before diving into it.

Just have them sand blast your chrome ones and paint them.

Anything to get rid of the chrome is a good option. Adding a 3m paint protector would be recommended with that option the help against stone chips

(I have a set of chrome ones that are freshly sandblasted and painted super white for sale for anyone in Ontario $295)

Anyone watching this thread wanting to do this to their truck - - I got mine back from the shop today installing the beautiful paint-matched resin end caps. Not any shop; the shop a local Toyota dealer uses regularly. They're beautiful, but gman's advice is the right advice. The resin caps are beautiful, but they're dimensionally different enough to require non-stock reassembly. But let me tell you something... They're beautiful.
