Got it on this morning. I took my time and had fun since the install was pretty straightforward. It's silly, but I think one of the details I like most is the subtle TRD branding in the wheelwell area

Warm day today so I wrapped up a couple outstanding things I wanted to get done before the cold and snow start showing up.

Got a new KO2 installed yesterday on my 5th TRD OR wheel to replace the spare wheel/tire and mounted it under the truck today. I only have about 2k miles on the other 4 so this Spring i'll rotate the tires and get the 5th in on the fun. Has a TPMS sensor in it too so all the nannies will be happy.

Also adjusted the drivers side foglight I installed earlier this month (Rigid D-Series SAE) as it was shining a little too high. Got some Rigid amber covers to put on there tomorrow when it's light out.

Replaced both rear wheel bearings today. Both axle o-rings were pinched from the factory, letting dirt and grime get into the ball bearings. Passenger side was completely shredded to pieces, driver side was starting to click when turned and was on its way out. Explains why my entire dash was lighting up like a Christmas tree

Wife took the kids to a birthday party so I figured this would be a good time to add the TRD rear sway bar. After a quick test drive around the block I was able to notice a slight improvement. Seems as if the steering is lighter and more responsive :notsure:. I noticed that some have installed with the U brackets turned 90 degrees upward towards the rear. Any benefit to this?

Prepped the Falken's today for DuraCoat. 5x scrubbing the tires with DuraCoat cleaner. Started at 45°, a mild mist started at noon and dropped to 33° and snow by the time I finished at 4pm. Brrr... Nothing like a water hose in the cold. I hope to apply DuraCoat dressing tomorrow, but forecast is very cold tonight and tomorrow in Bend. I have the space heater running in the garage tonight. Instructions say not to apply if <55°, so may have to wait until next weekend. It appears that winter weather is here.

I see a bunch of you add the TRD rear anti-sway bar. Do y’all not go off roading? An anti sway bar is the enemy to getting any articulation off road so I’m curious.

    Thanks.

Meh. The sole purpose of it is to stop articulation. You’ll still get some but it’ll be drastically reduced.

Most don't. For a lot of people, the most off-road their truck will see is some wet grass at a stadium lot for some tailgating or a hardpacked dirt campsite.

There are a few that have an addiction to dirt, but not too many of us.

Ya I hear you, but I'll be honest in my reply. The most I typically do in my truck off road is some chunky/steep/rutted fireroad or stuff to get to a nice dispersed campsite in the Sierras. The rear sway definitely stiffened up the truck in those cases, but I haven't been inhibited by it yet. For me, the benefit of it on-road the majority of the time, outweighs its limitations off road. I have been curious to take it off for a bit and see how it rides though

You probably won't see too much of a difference. You will see some, but you probably won't think it's enough to roll without it. You'll start feeling the effects of the sway bar when you start getting on moderate rocky trails with rocks, logs and stumps about 12" high and off camber sections. Trails like these is where tire placement becomes important and you don't want to 3 wheel.

Down here, offroading involves going through a bunch of mud and ruts. It's not like the rock climbing I see y'all doing out west. If I were to do that, i would take the sway bar off and reinstall it after I was done. At least I haven't had any issues so far with what I have come up against, and I have gone off road driving through land I am checking out for purchase.

It was time to clean her up and make her look like a city kitty again. Also while off road I tore up my stock running board brackets so started fabbing Up some rock sliders/ running boards. I don’t go and get anywhere crazy but after my last couple of adventures I hope this will alleviate tearing up cheap running boards. But today I washed, Clayed, polished, applied a glaze, a sealer, and capped it with wax, and dressed the rubber and plastic.

Yeah I’ll get some more out there. It’s steel. And it has a lot of options. And a 700 lb rooftop kid capacity which is huge. With me and my wife and dog or kids we’d be over the 500lb HD capacity of most fiberglass toppers. And it’s metal so you can hit it with a hammer if you need to bend it.

I don't have any sway bars on mine. Its way better on rutted roads and wheeling. I do not really notice the body roll after I got use to it, even though I drive aggressively on the street. The ride is softer with them off. I also have King extended travel shocks Upper arms and 3" rear shackles etc.
