I've gotten quite a bit done today, and now I need help with mounting strategies...




I'd like to get my TacomaPros switch box mounted today, but I'm struggling on finding decent places to mount it, and whats exactly behind both of these locations?

I suppose I could take the cowl off, and see about that spot, but figured the easiest corse of action would be to yield, take a water break, and ask for the wisdom.

Maybe @empty_lord would know?

 

Find holes in the fender area that are u used, never drill into the cowl unless you like potential leaks

 

I keep forgetting I have these, too bad they won’t fit a first gen

Never done one on an aircooled Beetle? Its a wire much like the ones that hold your headlight bulbs in, but bigger.

Went to check out the progress on my wifes motor swap. Brought them some lower ball joints, a water pump, some axle seals and a freshly resurfaced flywheel.

He made pretty good progress, pulled the motor and stripped the newer motor down to longblock, now he's bolting up parts and should have it all together on Monday. Its also going to have two new motor mounts, the other two are fine.

He pointed out that the Vtec solenoid was clogged and leaking oil, I wasn't getting that vtec action! Also pointed out that the pressure plate had been busted and there was shards in the housing, I was surprised to see that. Pretty excited to get that car back and driving better than before.

 

Sorry for the late response, like empty loard said near a fender, but it’s also a good idea to keep it close to the battery. Also on the battery side is the easiest to get wires into the cab(to you in the driver seat)

 

The tundra just makes a way better support vehicle when we move this pig than my 2nd gen taco ever did.

now if Toyota would ever get in the hd diesel game, one can wish right lol

 

Man, if a hybrid tundra is really happening. You might finally see a proper diesel competitor. Toyota hybrids are proven to be reliable, when in a truck the torque those electric motors can put out is insane, drive a ls600h if you ever can. Pretty impressive car

 

Found a machine shop 1 mile from the house. Taking these calipers by Monday.

There's not enough room on the drivers side. I plan on running the signal wires into the grommet on the Pass side and up into the headliner.

Pre-gaming a piece of angle iron out of the 3×3 square tubing I used to fix my bed.

 

I got rebuilt units from Rockauto. Raybestos zinc coated They are they ones Mr gx460 recommended.

 

Has anyone pressed a ball joint out of a lower control arm without damaging the lbj?

I installed the ball joints last weekend and still noticed a little play once it was together, did some investigating and found my control arm bushings were trashed. I kinda figured that I could just hammer them out since they have only been torqued for a week but no luck.

Tried jamming a 2x4 across the bump stops and jacking up the hub but that seemed a little too sketch.

 

Is that the guy who pushes them/posts them on the FB page all the time?
Definitely let us know how the upgrade goes, I might open up my rears this weekend; pretty sure my fronts are close based on my fluid level
