So I took my 07 double cab in for the recall back in 2018 and the dealer determined that simply spraying the frame would be enough of a solution. Not wanting to turn down some sort of remedy for the truck, the shop did the spraying. I feel the frame should have been replaced, and the treatment is all simply flaking off over time to show a still rusted frame under my truck. I have only 142k miles on this, which is nothing on the 2UZ-FE 1,000,000 mile engine. I would love to keep driving this thing for another 200k+ miles and 10+ years but I feel living in WI that the frame will not last as long as the rest of the truck. I called and opened a case with Toyota about this stating I understand that the recall has come and gone, but I feel that when I tried to exercise the recall with my later model truck (for the ones affected by the recall at least) that this was simply a band-aid fix on a problem that would still bite me in the future. Am I completely out of luck, is reaching out to Toyota corporate (who set up a case with the customer relations person at the dealership I had this truck initially serviced here for the frame) my only option? I have heard of people who corporate has sent letters of recommendation to replace the bad frames on people's vehicles when they feel the dealer is wrong or didn't do a good enough job, thoughts?

It would not hurt to pursue it. Especially if you can see the lousy job of prepping for paint and the rust under the top coat. Have you taken any photos of this and sent them to Toyota Corporate? Might be worth a shot?

Hello and thank you for the suggestion. I have opened a case with Toyota Corporate and they have put the case/contact in motion with the dealer who did the rust treatment. I was hoping for them to maybe send me to a different dealer than the one who did the sloppy job, or to just send a recommendation to require the frame to be replaced.

Also where do you guys get the Military Badges? Current Navy here!

Yea, they sprayed my 05 Tundra frame under the recall also and it was a band aid fix. Started rusting through the spray on the first winter (Wisconsin). I don't think they prep anything, just spray that black crap over everything and call it a day. I never pursued it.
My 12 has a pretty rusted frame also.

How is the 05 these days? Is it nearing end of life of the frame or is it just really rusty and unappealing. I also noticed the job started flaking off only weeks after it was done and revealed still completely rusty frame underneath it, which makes me also assume they do not completely clean/treat it before spraying. I worry with only 140k on my 1,000,000 mile 2UZ-FE engine that the frame won't allow the very meticulously maintained Tundra to truly live as long as it could. All parts, oil, and fluids are always changed on time (front/rear diff, transfer case, trans, coolant) My next truck will be certainly be a Tundra and honestly at 9-15k for a frame job without corporate replacing it at the time of failure... it just wouldn't justify not just buying a new truck...

I will keep this thread posted as I left the Corporate Relations fella at the dealer a message to call me back, I have yet to hear what his thoughts are at this time.

What dealer in WI did you have the truck inspected and sprayed at? I am in the Menomonee Falls area and went to Heiser Toyota.

I sold the 05 in 18 to buy my 2012 Rock Warrior, but it is still on the road. A local guy bought it, still see it around.
I am in New Berlin but went to Heiser Toyota because my daughter works there. I don't have any work done at dealerships unless warranty work. Bad experiences at several of them.
    Good luck with your claim.

Well at least it's affirming that another person feels the same way about how that dealership handled it. Good to hear the 05 is still running around town, I may be being a little too picky expecting my 07 to run another 20-30 years and expecting the frame to last as long, but it's worth a shot. I also only will go to dealers for warranty work and haven't had the best experience with Heiser yet, if they can resolve this in my favor I would have a much better opinion of them, enjoy the Rock Warrior!

I was charged $125 for the inspection to which I declined, then they kept my truck for 3 days before they stated anything about it being ready... I tried taking it to a separate dealer, but it was marked as completed...

My 2000 Tundra didn't pass so they replaced the frame. There was two different recalls for rust. The first was for the cross member that held the spare (which was no longer there) and then a second one for the frame. I think they said, was 8 or 10 years ago, there had to be a rust hole in the frame for it to be replaced. My 07 came from SC and looks just like the day it came out of the factory.

I have a 2003 with 63,000 original miles on it. I'm the third owner. The frame was sprayed in 2013 . As you know if the frame is not completely clean and dry the spray incapsulates the rust. I took it to Toyota because there is a ten year warranty from the day this " FIX" is completed. I spoke to the rep and he told me that the campaign is closed. If you go to a local Toyota dealer and see them doing a frame spray you can see the equipment they use now to dry the rails. My question is, has anyone else heard this
