Our search function here can be your friend....every year a member will post the latest crash test data. CM always loses to the DC....every year since 2007.

deja vu all over again.....Y Berra!
Bottom line for me....safety over cab space when it comes to kids and adult passengers. My grandson is with me all the time. He loves my 14 DC too and my previous 07. Good enough for me!

Crewmax can’t be beat for woods rides. Toolbox mounted backwards filled with cold ones. Sitting in the backseat and need a freshie? Kindly ask the driver to roll down the rear window and open up the toolbox (latches in front with lid flipping up towards the 3rd brake light). Dispose of your empty on one side of the box and enjoy your new beverage.

Dont drink and drive. Don’t litter. Have a good time.

So, I've owned a short box GMC Sierra crew cab. It was completely full exactly once. I then owned a F150 SuperCrew with a 6.5ft bed. I never used more than 5ft of it. I now own a 1st Gen Tundra doublecab with a 6ft box. Its bed has never been completely full. The cabs on all these trucks however were packed full on a regular basis.

My next Tundra will be a CrewMax. The bed will do everything I need it to. The dry, climate controlled, secure space in the cab gets used far more than a bed for my uses. In the event I need to haul really big things, I'll hook up a trailer.

Toyota does not offer DC in it's two top trims and the new DC Pro is like a Unicorn. My next truck would be a DC Platinum, I care zero % about the window other than I don't have it but want folding mirrors and AC seats and don't even have an option to order from factory. So yes CM out sell a lot, everyone should have more choices in ordering what they want. Hell Toyota take the 8 foot bed DC frame and throw a CM cab and just shorten the bed to match, BOOM done.

All cosmetic so far see my posts in 2nd gen Black out chrome in progress….
Boils down to what your personal needs are. My kids are grown so the DC is plenty of cab space but still having ample bed space as well...main reason for buying a truck was for using it as a truck. My son is 6’3” and fits fine in back seat FYI.

I personally understand why some people prefer one over the other, and i think that's a good thing, right? Everyone has different needs, and it seems Toyota has seriously considered this. I prefer the D/C for the larger bed for work, and i think it looks much better aesthetically, especially in MGM. ;)

My grandfathers are the ones who had trucks and they're both too nice to call anyone pussies. My dad has never owned a pickup, though he's driven plenty.

The rear space on my Tundra DC is the same as on my Lexus LX 570. I cannot see any difference. Tundra DC is even better, its rear seats are wider. Although I have children, they do not complain. I simply needed 6.5' bed because I carry longer items and I am very happy that I decided to buy DC.

This is a great point, and part of the reason I mentioned deciding for yourself what your needs are.

We owned a '13 F150 previous to this, and while it wasn't loaded with room in the back, it did OK with 4 adults. The '20 Tundra DC had, I think, another 3.5 inches, which doesn't sound like a lot, but believe me when I tell you that 3.5 inches is a lot. (Heh.)

Seriously though, I could easily have lived with it....but I think my wife just wasn't a fan of the two previous extended cab trucks, so she really wanted a CrewMax. I'm glad we went with it, but I agree, a Tundra DC is more than enough room for most people.

I have a DC, 2 boys (10 and 12), 2 90lbs black labs, and we all fit just fine (yes it's cozy). Personally I love having the bed space but I camp and love to build things (fitting 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall in the back is nice). Comes down to personal choice and what you do the most.

DC is a truck for doing manly truck things...with guns and dirt bikes :muscleflexing::smokertransformer: :quickdraw::bikewhoops::bikewheelie2: :burnrubber::mudding:

CM is for going to the mall or an ice cream social or a winery with all your friends :spending::ballchain: :santa::humble::1up::proposetoast::bored::pray::puke:

    Any questions? :D

I always felt left out when I got my DC, seeing everyone with a CM. But when I moved, I was so glad I got my DC and now that I'm overlanding it, I love it even more.

Ok, there's no appropriate thread to ask this, but this one seems fitting.

I haven't done this, but I might need to in the future.

Whether it is a CM or a DC. Who has hauled 4 people in the back seat? and how was it?
I'm aware that there's only 3 seatbelts. :crapstorm:
