Let’s see pics stock height Pro with 295/70r18

I keep referring back to the OP's original posting. Any mods required? FULL STOP. Did you remove the front mini flaps because they rubbed? Or because you were worried they might rub? Still hoping to hear from one Pro owner who is running 295's with no mods and no rubbing? Anybody?

 

Lots of people have responded in this thread. 295/70/18 tires on the stock TRD wheels with NO mods will slightly rub at full lock (moreso in reverse) on the front mini mudflaps. It isn't enough to tear up your tires or the mudflaps, but it is certainly enough to hear and feel, so mostly all of us have removed those and that's it. No rubbing whatsoever after that. No need for any other mods or spacers or anything. Good to go.

Just installed new 295/70r18’s to replace the cooper st Maxx’s now have minor rubbing in the mud flap in reverse. This wasn’t the case with the coopers.
Not going to be to hard to fix the rubbing

 

Each manufacturer specs are diffrent i have read the wildpeaks run big
Edit: nice looking rig barley noticed it since in faster color

 

Ya I didn’t realize there was that much difference in the size. Not as wide either as the coopers. Be better in the snow I imagine. Thanks for the compliment.

 

Thanks for all of the responses on an older thread. I'm interested because I have a set of 295/70 R18 Falken Wildpeaks on order for my '20 TRD Pro. I love the ride and handling with the OEM set up. My only interest in the Falken's is for looks and snow performance without decline in dry and rain handling. I guess I will know soon if any plastics removal or trimming needed. I love the looks of the 295's on the Pro!

 

I have been running 295/70r18’s since I got the tundra in 2016. I think that it suits the truck. Haven’t got many miles on the Falken’s yet but the are a lot quieter than coopers ever were!!

 

Fills out the wheel well sooo much better. these will run better on and off road, especially in snow. I’ve got no love for the stock pro tires. My biggest complaint about the truck.

Stock TRD pro suspension....also have 3/4” bora wheel spacers

 

Did you try the tires before the spacers? As per the OP's question.... any need for trimming or was there rubbing with the stock suspension and wheels?

picked it up yesterday, did some exploring on some easy to moderate trails (would have been harder with mud but it’s very dry)

amazing truck. Love the look and ride.

how was the road trip with the new tires? looks like you have the front mud flap still on - any issues with rubbing? no spacers?

 

I haven’t noticed any rubbing on mine. Put 100 miles on day one including some light trail riding and rock crawling. Have not removed the front flaps yet. May not have to.

 

Road trip went well! Put about 600 miles in total on the new tires. Barely any road noise to speak of and as for mpg still about the same 15-16 on the highway cruising. Ride comfort was same as stock tires as well. And I didn't have to remove anything from the truck including the front mud flap but I did add the coach builder bumper spacer right before so that helped. Cheaper than wheel spacers imo.

 

New boots day! Falken Wildpeaks 295/70 R18. Stock height 2020 Pro, no spacers and the factory +60 offset wheels. The Falkens are listed at diameter of 34.3" and add about 1" of height to the truck compared to the OEM Michelins. No rubbing, no trimming, all flaps still in place. There is about 1/2" between the top of the tire and the UCA. So, thus far, I'm thinking there is enough clearance for these tires without any rubbing or mods needed on the '19-'21 Pro's. I'm impressed with the road manners. Surprisingly quiet and I'm not noticing any more lean or howl in high speed curves. I'll report back after I head out into the dirt.

Just installed the same tires a couple weeks ago and like them so far looking forward the trying them in the snow.

I have factory wheels with 3/4 spacers and have minor rubbing on the flap so must be the spacers that are the cause.

 

Thanks 121. One of the other members thought the same about his truck, in that he was also running spacers. I'm going to monitor and check for any rubbing, but so far no issues. I was debating between the Falkens and the Ridge Grapplers, but the Falkens came in almost $300 cheaper. Bring on the snow!

 

Looks great! Did you replace the spare as well or go without the spare?

 

I already asked someone else above, but figured I'd ask you as well since you recently got new tires. Did you get a 5th new tire for the spare or just remove the stock spare?

 

I'm wondering the same -- looking at the Cooper at3 xlt @ 295/70/r18 but not sure if a spare of the same size would fit underneath

 

I’ve read that it will fit underneath. I’m just wondering if the offset of the spare wheel is ok with the larger tire.

 

As long as the spare is put on the rear you should be okay. Basically same rule of thumb as you would do with compact car donut. Put the donut on the rear if you have a flat up front then place the rear wheel up front.
