Glad I found this discussion! Not really a collector, but I love watches. Currently going with a Panerai Destro, Seiko Prospex, Omega Planet Ocean, Ulysses Nardin Maxi Marine and a couple of G-Shocks. The Army Green G-Shock is my current favorite as it matches the truck. My wife has a Rolex Lady Datejust and a white ceramic Bell & Ross. And a whole other box full of straps, I like to change it up often and straps are a lot cheaper than watches.

Not really a 'collector' either but I do like a nice Skagen.
    The two on the left are thin as a coin;
fit nicely under a dress shirt sleeve. One was a gift.
One of the bigger black ones was a gift to myself (which I rarely have done) for getting a new career after being downsized at my previous job of 23 years.

My first Micro Brand: Helm Komodo, I wore it on the Factory rubber strap since December. I just put the metal band and silver bezel on today and it transformed it.

I added a Speedmaster moon watch, a Casio Pro Trek and a Tudor Pelagos over the last couple of years. The Pelagos is the most recent acquisition and I really enjoy wearing it with its subdued case and matte dial and bezel as compared to the Planet Ocean. The Pro Trek is for camping, outdoors.

I am a huge Tundra fan and watch collector as well! Cool to see this thread.
    My current "beater" pieces:
Vintage Heuer 3000 "Professional" 932.206 with stainless jubilee and diver's extension
Corgeut "Black Bay" (Best watch under $150! Seriously, you can't beat a Miyota 8215, sapphire crystal, and 316L full stainless.)
Tissot V8 Swissmatic (ETA 2824-2 Mod)
    Rolex Datejust 1608 (Stainless model)
    That's it so far!

I'm biased, but I believe it's the perfect watch. So versatile. Looks great with a suit or swimsuit and can handle almost anything thrown at it. I consider it the best of all the James Bond watches for that reason. Nothing against the more aggressive diver designed, but I'm not a diver and I find the diver style to be misplaced were I to wear one. The Speedmaster would be my next choice among the Omega portfolio.

Never had a problem with any of my watches with a Seiko movement. I have been thinking about trying an Orient Mako II.

Good choice! However, Orient is a "manufacture" which means all of their movements are made in-house. They are owned by Seiko though!
A good watch that any Seiko collector should have in their collection is the 6139 Series Chronograph. It's a good retro automatic chronograph from the 70's that has a great heritage!

Been shying away from the name brands lately and concentrating g on micro brands. Usually nicely made watches and is satisfying being able to communicate with the owner/designer. Recently picked up a Swiza which normally would not have swayed me but the design is simple and uses the SW-200-2 movement.

Man I love Tundras. Didn't know this thread was here.
Found this in my Moms stuff after she passed away back in Nov.

I can't find a thing on the name so I don't suspect it's anything special. Is my assumption correct?

Im not very knowledgeable about pocket watches, and have never heard of that brand. A bit of googling and it doesn’t seem that they are very valuable.

That said, it’s clearly well used, so it wasn’t just thrown in a closet somewhere. Women don’t tend to use pocket watches, so I assume it belonged to someone important to your mother for her to have kept it. I’d say more than anything, it’s value is in the fact that it meant something to her. Assuming you don’t know who it belonged to, I’d try to find out who it belonged to if possible. Maybe that person left behind someone who’d really love to have it?

I have close to 50 watches, ranging in value from zero to a few thousand dollars. The one that I care about the most is a cheap Walmart watch that my grandfather wore to work every day for many years. It’s in bad shape and doesn’t work, probably cost 20 dollars new, but it’s the one I wouldn’t part with under any circumstances.

So to answer your question, it was special enough for your mother to hold on to it, so I’d consider it pretty valuable if I were you. It’d be neat if you could find out to whom it originally belonged. You might be able to make someone very happy. That’s worth more than money in my book.

I bought an automatic Hamilton—my first nice watch!—from Amazon a couple years ago. It would lose a half hour all at once every couple days. I was very active with it, and there’s no way it wasn’t getting charged. Ended up returning it and got this solar G-Shock. My collection of one. I’ve put this thing through the wringer. Looking into a Garmin. The GPS would be nice in the backcountry. And I’d love to get a Speedmaster some day. Still trying to figure out how I would explain that to my wife...
