Looks nice! For the most part they're pretty solid. Cam tower leak is one common area that some people have issues with. And check for water pump leak. My Tundra at 160k did not have water pump leak but my Sequoia had slight leak at 130k.

I purchased my '07 three years ago when it had 270,000.
No Cam tower leak, or any other kind of leaks.
Water pumps have a weep hole, don't confuse that with a leak.
The fuel pump expired soon after I bought it, and the immobilizer chip in the key went out.
At 295,000 I am concerned with the torque converter going out.

Other than that, this truck is 100% reliable.

Replace your radiator cap, they tend to break and cause overheating issues

Nice. I like the 2nd gen look better. I’m finding rusty bolts on my undercarriage. Like the ones I broke trying to take my skid plate off. Still haven’t got the skid plate off to change the oil. It’s hanging on by the hooks up front and 2 bolts on the rear.

Water pump is definitely a common one from what I have read here and I had that issue myself.

Weep hole leak is coolant getting past the first seal but not into the bearing. I would consider that a coolant leak. They're designed that way to prevent the pump bearing from being destroyed by coolant which would render the vehicle inoperable at best. Soon as you have coolant leaking out the weep hole swap that pump. I will also say I'm not particularly pleased with the engineering of the water pump from a replacement standpoint. I come from the gm world. Water pumps are quick and painless. On the tundra it's hours.

Transmission seal that meets with the drive shaft. Mine leaked earlier in ownership and was changed twice under warranty before they got it right... Driver door panel and dash, mine had to be readjusted as it was rubbing on the dash. CD player, ensure it can read all 6discs and keep cycling them through, mine ate 6 and has yet to spit them out, nor acknowledge them lol....

I had this same CD problem with an Acura’s CD Changer. It was from using blank data CD’s to make my own audio disks rather than using blank CD’s made specifically for audio. The data disks are thicker, and if you load your changer’s carriage with them, the extra accumulated thickness will jam the changer’s mechanisms and cause the whole changer to lock up.

I agree, the only problem with this is that I actually bought the music CDs and they're all jammed in there... I haven't used blank or data discs since I left the service... I got some Metallica, Audio Slave, Chevelle, a Jazz CD don't remember who, and a couple classical music CDs which settles down my eldest...

my water pump had a slight leak I went to replace it and found out that the leak was coming from a bolt that goes into the water jacket. i replaced it any ways and did a 300amp alt swap at the same time since i needed higher amps but most importantly the alt requires tear down of the coolant system to get to it. seemed like a good time also new belt , thermostat and koyo aluminum rad with mishimoto hose's.

Additionally, make sure the TSB on the window switch has been done, or you can be stuck with all the windows stuck half way open while raining... Ask me how I know, lol...

it was a free replacement for me because it fried, although I heard its usually a re-lube and out they go.. just make sure its been completed, Toyota does keep record of it and you should be good to go...

I think all the 5.7 are pretty solid. The cam tower leak, valley plate leak, and typical preventative maintenance on water pump, tensioner, idler, serpentine belt as needed. The radiators on the Tundra seem to be a better design than the ones on the 5.7 land cruisers that have a built in stress riser.
