    Good day to all,
    I have a 2016 Tundra 1974 edition. 7,000 miles
I am currently having an issue with the battery dying very quickly, example, i had the truck on acc with the radio and lights off just to charge my phone for 20 min, i tried to start my truck and got the clicking noise, after another 20 min tried again and it finally crank over and started, but If i leave my truck sit for 3-4 days then I need to jump it.

also I get a Trailer Brake controller error very intermitting turning on, does anyone else have this issue and if so how was it resolved?
I have taken the truck to the dealer and they said nothing is wrong and reset the codes then sent me off
    Trailer Back controller eror.jpg

I would like to thank everyone in advance

check battery connections and maybe get battery tested somewhere else. My truck sits for 2 weeks at a time, sometimes 3 weeks and starts right up.

Sounds like the power is going somewhere.

Did you install any aftermarket equipment?

Wire in any additional 12v outlets or anything?

Any cheap phone chargers plugged in during that time period?

    Good luck!

Toyota had installed a remote starter on the truck, Not a factory starter.
I had a plow installed on the truck, but the controller and plow assembly is off the truck.
    No chargers plugged in
everything is pretty much factory stock

    Which remote starter?

    Battery terminals clean?

Lots of engine starts with not a lot of driving in between (idling doesn't count) will eventually drain the battery.

How long after the remote starter was installed did the problem start?

And yes The integrated Brake Controller does not stop my trailer with electric brakes either. has anyone every tried the lemon law on this issue, being that Toyota is not stating they know about the issue and working on a solution or replacing them with after market

When running at normal driving speeds what is the reading on the volts? I think your dealer could give you new OEm battery and see what happens. Could be bad battery

When my truck sets about 3weeks the battery gets too low to turn over. I've heard that this is not uncommon. These trucks have a lot of small "phantom" drains. I've got a trickle charger I use sometimes and this is my other solution:IMG_0340.jpg

I'm not a tech but I would check to make sure all the connections were properly removed or reversed with the plow.

I would assume if the battery tests well and there is a slow drain, Toyota will point the finger at the remote start first.

For comparison, I bought my truck new in November of 2013, I only have 10,2xx miles on it. It frequently sits. I have never had an issue.

Good luck man. Electrical problems can be tough to diagnose.

@gosolo have you heard of others having similar issues as yourself? I love Interstate batteries as well. I run their AGM batteries on my quads. Running the winch repeatedly up/down while plowing doesn't even tire them out.

    Gotcha. Hmmmm...

We also have that emissions system that goes all wild while the truck is just sitting.

I'm sure that has at least a little responsibility for using some juice.

Your LDP(Leak Diagnostic Pump) is not the problem. The draw that is has when is runs a emissions leak test is minimal and only last for approximately 4-5min. You need to have the battery load tested. It might test good with a battery tester but break down when put under load. I'm going to bet that this is your problem.

That our emissions system makes some funky noises while the truck isn't running and has been off for hours, totally normal, but the first vehicle I have owned that does that. Very confusing at first.

I am having the same issue with my 16 SR5. Also had a remote starter installed about 8 months ago. Came home from work and parked it and everything was perfect. The next morning it was completely dead, after jump starting it I drove to work with a charging rate of around 13.9 with no issues. Let it sit for 30 mins went out and it started right up but then the trailer brake controller error came up, I drove it to the dealership and they told me they could not find anything wrong with it. It has came back on two more times since then but always random times and with no battery issues. Has anyone found a solution yet?

I had the same issue last year with my 2014 Tundra. I ended up just replacing the battery and have not had any further issues.

I would then say you need to do a battery draw test to check for parasitic drain and have the battery tested. Best bet is to have it done at the dealership with the GR8. Autozone tester might show good battery and if you do a load test it will fail. This is all done at once with the GR8.
