Several on here have the Lock ‘er Down that one is similar to. A couple guys love it— but more prefer a split console (I saw one right below that one, when I followed your link).

The reason a split console is more convenient is so you can quickly use half the console (hairbrush or comb; wife’s hair ties and sunscreen; gas receipts or business cards; what-nots) without dealing with unlocking it every time.

EB Classics makes a good split (half locking; half open) console, which is now available through Toyota dealerships.

I have the split safe which I like. Having a full safe would mean having to unlock everytime you need to get the common thing you use the most. Mine us very heavy duty and a thief would have a hard time getting into it.
I can provide pictures if you like.

I am rocking a "Tuffy" variant of the one you linked. It does the job well but is not split like some others have mentioned. Having the split functionality would be nice imo. It looks like you will lose access to the power port in the console with the variant you linked. May not be an issue but something to be aware of. I would say you would be good with just about anything that is difficult to pry open. I wouldn't imagine most thieves would want to spend the time to pry something but more for a smash and grab. I would also try to avoid any stickers that might indicate you have fun stick. :bananadance:

Where are you guys picking up the keypad version? I don't see it on the site, only the combo. EDIT: Nevermind, I see it now on the lock options.. Cool!

I didnt even realize the half size safe was an option. That's actually a much better idea. Thanks for the input.

I have the half safe from Lock'er Down and love it. Went with the simple four-number combo. Not as fast as an electronic lock, but much simpler and fewer things to fail.

Did you have to remove the plastic organizer piece on the inside of the lid?

Nope...just pull two screws out from the bottom of the console and it drops right in. Don't have to cut/remove or adjust anything

I have the full console Locker down safe. Very happy with it, they’re rock solid.

If I were starting over, I’d probably get the half console version, but with the electronic keypad, it’s not that hard to unlock it when I get in the truck and then just lock it when I’m parking and exiting.

I am assuming that the half console will hold a hand gun without issue. Have you noticed any issues?

I installed the Lock'er Down half console safe. I'd like to find a console tray for the open side. I've looked on Amazon and can't seem to find one that is not full size. Anyone with the half safe have a half size tray for the console?

Sorry I never got the pics to you. Completely forgot.

You should have got the tray when you bought the safe. Mine came with one.

It has a replaceable internal battery that lasts 10 years..
Mine is exactly this lock in the link below.

I can open the console lid, input the code, and open the vault without looking at it.

Low battery warning 100 cycles prior
Battery override in case of dead battery
Many more details in this link.

Maybe I'm the only one that likes having the full sized Lock'er Down with the electronic lock.
I actually bought the vault before the electronic lock was available.
Bought the new lock and another door when they came out.
Apparently the electronic lock won't work with the older manual lock doors.

I bought this console organizer and modified/trimmed it to fit in the vault.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SSKUHAC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Mounted my magnets in it using Chicago screws.

I like that it is big enough to put the wife's purse in if she wants to leave it the truck.
Plus plenty of room for what I want to put in it with easy access.
Hopefully I can stop any threat with 55 rounds and 13 rounds of backup.
And no, I don't leave the firearms in there overnight..

I doubt you could fit a full sized laptop in the entire full safe..
