Hello All. I am thinking of putting a front facing camera on the truck and wonder if anyone here has done it and where did you put the toggle switch to turn it on. All the switch spots are full on my 1794 and I prefer not to drill/cut to put one in. Thinking of putting in the spot that the Window security spot is but not sure of this can be removed or should be. Or is there a different panel that can be purchased that has extra spaces? Thanks

There are a couple of threads here with videos that show how to do the install. @2020Platinum has a very good video. As far as switch placement, there are many options that have been used.

You either like chrome shiny things or ya don't. There is a point of too much or too little. Certain colors look better with chrome like purple, blue, maroon. Colors like grey, cement, tan look better with a contrasting color like black

I say to each is own. Chrome or no chrome.

I own a few old school American hot rods and like a little chrome.

One thing I do know is we are driving one of the best trucks on the market.

That being said have fun, make it your own style and keep talking yourself into all those toys on your wish list, and biggest thing stick to those five words.(BUT HONEY I NEED IT)

Have a great day everyone and stay safe.

379E9524-517D-499C-945F-4A196C199CD9.jpg How many people have asked you what the 1794 stands for??? I think if one more random person comes up asks.... that badge is coming off. I wanted a pro but at the time we couldn’t wait to get one so I bought the 1794 and had the dealer install the
TRD PRO suspension before I picked it up then added 18” factory wheels with 295/70r18’s tires
I wasn’t a fan of the chrome on white so it’s pretty well de-chromed Everything except the door handles and a bit on the wheels D1AAAAE0-69ED-4131-8A5C-E7A446B5F997.jpg
I like what some others are doing on the interior might be the next thing on my bucket list!!!

    Nice truck Tundra121 !

I might go the same suspension route you did but like most of the chrome.

Has anyone installed the front camera on the OEM 2019-2020 1794 grill? I want mine centered but there is a piece that comes down the center from top to bottom. I want to see how others dealt with this.

Out of curiousity what’s the purpose of the front camera? Help when parking I’m guessing or just extra safety feature in case someone is taking a nap in front of your bumper?

I want it for parking primarily. But also when I am off road I want to see why my front sensors are screaming. Grass is OK, small trees less so.

That makes sense. I’ve only had the new truck for maybe a month and haven’t had it offroad yet to see what the sensors do. But hunting season is here so I’ll find out soon enough

I have a 2018 1794 which I installed the TRD PRO suspension on and been thinking about a front camera as well. Plug and play I hope.
The sensors only really pick up objects on the sides. I been off road a few times with the truck and it would of be really great to see how big that ditch, rock, stump or drop off was before having to turn around or squeeze out of tight areas.
Sending the wife or buddy out or a the in the dark or rain to watch that I don't hit something or hurt the truck gets me in trouble.
“You care more about your truck then me” I just come back with make sure you clean your boots off before you track all that dirt in here.
Anyhow I think it would really help. I to have the issue of where to mount it on the grill? Over or under the sensor logo?

Doing some exploring. I think I have found a good location, but it is slightly offset from center (~1"). I'll take pics once I figure out how to mount it. My neighbor also has an unused 2016 TRD Pro honeycomb grill that he would give me if I want. I would have to get it painted and figure out how to mount the radar/Toyota emblem, and I'm not sure it is worth that much effort. I say that because the honeycomb grill has the perfect, centered location for the Tundra. Also, I have thought I wanted to get the Platinum grill, which is honeycomb, but again, not sure if I want to commit that much time to it right now.

I was going to install this today but my add on fuse block holder won't be delivered until next Thursday :(.

Which front camera system and camera did you end up purchasing?
Is it Plug and Play or is there wire cutting involved?

The FRAC Harness is plug and Play. No factory wires need to be cut or spliced. You will need to install whatever front camera you decide on, so you'll need to crimp the power for the camera to the FRAC Harness power wire and connect your camera ground wire to the truck chassis. That's it for the wiring.

You can definitely use the glass break sensor spot. Some customers just leave the sensor connected and stash it behind the panel. If you also wanted a VIM switch you can use one of the USB port locations. Other's have mounted/hidden the VIM switch in the Glove box for passenger use.

Great I thank everyone for their input and good information.
I kind of like the two small round switches that where drilled into the plastic right above the glass breakage sensor and usb/aux port.
Now it’s just mounting of the camera. Like the one backershack is going to use.

Got this from Amazon for these exact reason... Went off roading last weekend with lots of sharp turns on narrow paths, rocks and trees on the close premises... Did some research and read good comments, shipment is on it's way!
