Put this on a few days ago. My goodness what a difference. Thanks to all who have shared in the past. Convinced me to spend the $ and I am really glad I did.

It's on my list. Just need to let the wife cool down after my recent tires/wheels/lift expenses. I'll definitely add it before camping season.

I was in the market for one, then I thought if it really does improve handling, it also makes the truck safer. That made up my mind.

Picked it up, installed it myself, felt the difference. Zero regrets, money well spent.

yea, posts like this throw me off. I've done aftermarket sway bars on nearly every vehicle i've owned. But this is my first truck and first "off road" vehicle and I haven't seen the need. I'm not taking this thing at high speed in corners.

What are the downsides to the sway bars on this truck? Anything you are giving away?

They say it also helps with towing/hauling.

I assume it may limit flex a little bit for off road situations, but I don't have any personal experience or tests to back that up.

I've done real off roading in my jeep tj with 33s and dual true tracs. That is something where crawling over rocks and the like could show the downside to a sway bar. IMO 99% of people would never put a tundra through anything remotely like the rock crawling that is hindered by sway bars. It's a massive pickup not designed for that sort of thing.

For those with spousal approval issues be aware the red on the bar is VERY obvious when approaching it from a distance. My son pointed this out and I'm thinking I should've painted it before install.

Definitely limits off road articulation. I would not want to limit my truck at all off road. I guess I'm a 1%er! I would not add this to my truck if it was free. Just my .02 to offer a counterpoint. Not against these at all, it's undoubtedly going to improve the ride on the road.

Agreed for off-road if that's what you use it for. I use mine for a tow pig to tow my Tacoma which is my off-road toy.

    Just depends on application.

I am glad the sway bar is working out so well for you. I only chimed in because some tundra bros were asking if there was any down side, which there is. I'm not suggesting you made a bad decision and you sure as hell don't know how I off road.

I don't get it. We all bought trucks, not road cars. I got a TRD 4x4. I don't notice any body roll. I had a 15 Silverado that handled like an old Cadillac. Lots of body roll. Since I put 6112's and 5160's it handles like a slot car. No roll.
Do the regular suspension trucks wallow on turns??

Everyone has a different application, and their own reasoning for why they bought their truck, and I respect them all.

Personally if I was going to do serious off roading I would have a Jeep XJ or Wrangler that I would tow to the trails with my Tundra.

My truck is primarily a family rig, tow rig, haul rig. I like to keep it clean and pretty, and if a $200 sway bar helps keep my truck and it's precious cargo on the highway after swerving from a hazard, I'm good with that.

I realize I bought a big Tundra, not an XRunner, but if $200 makes it handle better on the road, towing, hauling, which is where my miles are put on, take my money!

If I bought my truck to be an off road beast, which I wish I could justify, that sway bar wouldn't be on it!

I think Hellwig sway bars are adjustable (but I don't think they have a quick disconnect). People say it's thicker than the TRD bars. But that TRD red is so sexy.

For me personally, I do not go off road in any serious sense of the word, but the atrocious road condition around where I live makes it sort of like driving off road (very large pot holes, snow-hidden curves, brick roads (Yes, we still have those)). So for my application, I chose not to get a sway bar. When I hit one of those giant craters on the road, I don't want the jarring effect to be felt on both sides.

Sway bars are awesome if you have the following: You drive mostly on roads: The roads you travel on are in a good condition: You have a very strong urge to make turns at a relatively high speed.

For really serious off-roaders (well, much more serious than me :D), it is recommended that you disconnect the stock front sway bar in addition to not getting a rear sway bar. I still have my front sway bar. Sort of a compromise, I suppose.
