What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I’ve had this car waiting to move for a couple months now. The parts for it finally showed. Want to have it driving before winter

 

Whole trip, trans temp didn’t go over 150. After converter highest temp I saw was 170. This truck tows so good compared to the f-350 (for smaller things like this

 

Dropping the gas tank for the second time in 2 months to replace the fuel pump, gasket and retainer. Gods joke for female mechanic kind is I can't get the fucking lid off. Other than that going smoothly. 3 different auto parts stores didn't even know what a spanner wrench is...my oh my

 

what monitoring device do you use? @Professional Hand Model recommended one but its for android.

Just finished up replacing the fuel pump and put everything back together and broke the connector on the fuel line and it's dripping fuel. Please someone tell me there's a way to replace the connector without having to replace the entire fuel line... I really really really don't want to have to drop the gas tank back down for a 3rd time.

 

Looks like it’s not clipped all the way on is all. The secondary latch is missing though

 

Yeah the clip was jammed and it was the last thing I had to do and I it broke right off as I tried to push it on there. Is it possible to buy the connector seperately or do I have to do the entire line.

 

Got the topper. Just need to renew the seals on it. Found a DOM sticker with 2004 lol

I’m always creepin on campers for sale, but not sure if I would every buy one. But this last camping trip proved rather crowded in our 4runner, mainly the doggos. So I might keep a closer eye in the next year for DC shells around me for sale

 

Haha. Well, they seemed to be the best option when I was looking. I went D-Series flood pattern. I still need to aim them better, but the output is awesome!

 

I kinda know that feeling. I’m hoping to be able to camp with my kiddos with it.

The lady I purchased it from posted it Friday. so I felt decently lucky to be able to grab it. Plus it’s my birthday today.

Hand sanded to best my ability rear axle / diff and sprayed with rust reformer.
Sanded ans aprayed the sliding door guides / tracks to the sienna today as well.
Getting both sprayed with wool wax in next couple weeks.
Hoping to do some more permanent rust proofing next year

Had some fun redoing my driveway this weekend. Gave the old tundra a workout lugging this thing, plus several trailer loads of dirt. Driveway still isn’t done though...

 

man... there is something about those wheels and the brush guard that makes me think of the old trucks i was surrounded by as a kid with my uncle.

 

My Tundra chores today were simple but effective. I installed blind spot mirrors on my 1st gen, the kind that are adjustable. What a difference!
Also installed a right side bumper step pad on hubby's 2nd gen (he lost it when he got lightly rear ended two years ago - that chrome shining through at the spot where the step pad was missing didn't bother him much but drove me crazy. But he loved the way it looks after I got it on and then rubbed some dirt on it so it matched the rest of the bumper (smile!))
Also bought some touch-up paint but haven't used it yet...

500 isnt a terrible price.. I paid $200 for my cap by pure luck finding a junkyard that had it for years unable to sell it.. then another $200 to have it painted to match the truck

 

Finally had time to tinker with my headlights again. I got them set pretty close to what I think is acceptable.

I've passed 20 cars, and haven't been bright lighted yet. Also, I followed a Chrysler 200, and the cut off was right at the top of the trunk. Perhaps a little too high, but not blinding people in front of me either.

Editing in the car count, spelling, and katana fan-less fog LEDS. I haven't driven it yet, but I do have to say that it appears brighter.

As I suspected on the drivers side fog... one chip burnt out. I replaced both, but am saving the good one. For "Oh shit" circumstances.

Supposedly Snug Top is the best quality of the big 3(subject to opinion of course). That one appears to be in really good shape and has more headroom which is less common. I'd call that a good buy. The camper shell is one of the most useful things I've added to my truck.

 

Fixed the connector, there was some heat wrapped black plastic jammed into the connectors so I cleaned it all out put it back together and reconnected. Now I can officially say I replaced the pain in the ass fuel filter and retainer ring to stop my emissions codes from popping up. Let's hope the next 40 miles or so I can stop staring at that check engine light.

 

Yep, definitely a late-90s to early 2000s look I’ve got going. It wasn’t necessarily my plan, it just kinda worked out that way. I don’t mind.

 

How does it do with power pulling that car? I figure that must be a solid 4500-5000lb load?

my truck sure became gutless with the 285s. Hard to justify the $1500-2000 it would cost to regear.

This morning my local PDR guy is repairing the damage caused by the hit & run accident that happened about 2 weeks ago.
