thanks for trying man. Looks like I will probably have to go with another brand but I do appreciate it. From what I read there are more expensive ones that can be programmed for mostly any settings like locked doors, lights on/off, etc.

Carlink? Make sure you have it plugged into the right port on the Fortin. I believe the cable is blue, and there is a blue port on the fortin that it will fit into, but it's not the right port.

do you need a fortune programmer like the carlink instructions say ??

I just installed a startx on a 2020 tundra and I don’t want to plug in the carlink yet until I verify if I need a fortun programmer.

also does anyone’s tpms light flash when they remote start ?

my tpms light flashes when I remote start mine using the fob/startx.

    You don't need it.
My TPMS light stays on until I turn the key and hit the brake. On my install I didn't need to wire 12v or ground, it got it from the harness.

thank you for the quick reply!! My startx module works perfect and the tpms clears once I turn the truck on with the key.
I’ll go install my carlink module now and update once I’m done.

Has anyone used this and tuned their truck? I know it has something that plugs into the OBD2 and then replicates it, but wondered if that would be an issue.

I figure it wouldn't be, but wasn't sure if anyone had first hand experience with it.

Ok. Finally got all of my issues resolved.

I had 2 after installing the startx with cellular carlink module.

    1. tpms light flashes when car is remote started. FIX- there is no need for a fix. The TPMS light stops flashing and returns to normal when the key is instered and turned to the on position. This flashing TPMS is normal. It’s just not mentioned anywhere in the instructions !

    2. carlink ASCL6 would not learn to the module. There is very little instructions included. I looked at the carlink and fortin website and found this. Mine didn’t have a VALET Button,so I had to program in this sequence-
    1. install the startx module and programming it like their instructions say.
2.plug in carlink module let it power up for 5min or so.
    3. Turn ignition ON-OFF-ON-press brake pedal 4x. You will see a small red led (next to the yellow wire/program button)flashing rapidly.
When that led stops flashing rapidly and does 1 single flash then turns off. Your module is programmed and ready to test with the APP.

If anyone gets these and has any questions please let me know.

Mine came with a valet button. If you don't have one, you can ground out a blade connector and touch it two the two prongs on the Fortin where the valet switch would go.

Installed my Start-X remote start on Wednesday of last week. $205 shipped via Amazon. Took exactly 1 hour start to finish. Thats taking off and putting the plastics back on. Works great, I love it. Hardest part is figuring out where to tie the extra harness lengths up and out of the way.

So just installed this and the car link module today. Fairly easy install, just a little over a hour. But where did everyone stick the start-x box at? I put the car link module on the metal frame left of the steering wheel but can't figure out where to put the start-x box at? Kinda just got it crammed behind the dash temporarily.

I mounted mine right under the steering column on that metal bracket. probably the same place where you put the module at. but I do not have the module just the start x box

Just added remote starter this month. Best thing I could ever do especially when it’s 20 or 30 degrees outside

Hello everyone. I just bought the StartX Report start with the G key. This issue is either the programming or me. I have all my connections set. When I programmed it. Sometime it will not complete the 3rd phase when I engage the start. It only cranks but will not turn over. Is there something I am missing. I have been in touch with the vendor but his hours a way crazy since I live in Alaska. It is a 2013 Tundra Crewmax SR5.

Putting this on my “wish list”. Looks a little scary with all the wires and stuff and I’m seriously thinking of getting it and seeing if I can do this mod.

Can anyone post a pic of how you tied it and where you placed the module. Basically a pic of the end product/job.
    Thanks

It's not scary at all. Literally one of the easiest mods you can do. The possibilities for wire routing are limitless. Just zip tie it to other shiz in there.

I have zero experience with a mod like this one but I do have the remote tailgate lock (PK3B6-34JSO) and watched a couple YouTube vids so I think I’ll be able to handle it. Guess I’ll start with that one first and then if all goes well I’ll order the remote starter.

2 more weeks and my truck should arrive!

so I know I've posted in this thread, and I have had this unit for years at this point...

but does anyone know if there is a way for this unit/fortin units to engage a "pit stop" mode (leave vehicle running, remove key, lock door, unlock door, reinsert key, continue on trip)

my old remote start had this ability and I have been wondering if it is something I am just missing out on.

    Thanks!

Yes, but it's going to cost you money. The Tundra ignores the lock command from the factory fob when the truck is running.
You're either going to need to get the CarLink ASCL6 cellular module and do it thru the app, or purchase the Fortin long range RF remote and antenna and do it from their fob.

So I installed the startx and its working fine but I can't get the Carlink to work for some reason. I go through the programming where you turn it to run then off then run and press the brake pedal 4 times and it flashes red and everything but it will not work.

Check your install. Make sure the CarLink is plugged into the right port. If you color match the port to the cable, it's wrong.
For me to program it I had to use the valet switch. Not sure about the programming you're using.

The only ports I have that are empty are blue and black the red port already has a cable plugged into it.

I was able to find some install instructions posted on here and I did have it plugged into the correct port. I sort of have it working I can start and unlock and lock through the app now. I did notice that the LED never goes solid on the module though it just flashes and then finally goes out and starts over so I think I may just have a bad car link module. I have ordered a replacement from Amazon and will try the new one in a few days.

I wish I could be more of a help, but I only did the remote install, not the car link part (hindsight I wish I had it)

hope the replacement works for you.
