What’s going on with KO2s? 4,000 miles of pavement and treads are about to come of in chunks. I’ve had great luck with this tire in the past. I’m sure discount will say it’s my fault.

    Need to carry those back.
Based on posts there the BFG tires manufactured now are not the BFGs of old. I have run them on a ton of jeeps and even have a set on my 4runner now(purchased few years ago- never had issues. But reviews from the past year or so seem to show something has changed at BFG, and not for the better.

I can see some of that but then there looks like there are larger cracks, further down into some of the lugs

Get rid of your BFGs. Toyo or Cooper or Nitto. BFG is riding their name as others mentioned.

I'm not a fan at all of BFG, KO2 specifically, so my opinion past that comment will be heavily one sided.

Get rid of those POS tires.

BFG has had a lot of bad lots of tires come out. Another one bites the dust.

Doesn't look serious to me, just looks like drippage from the molds.

Did you get the soft compound or the hard compound? The soft one has a snowflake and hard one doesn't.

Mine do have the snow flake designation so they are the softer compound.

I'd say the snowflake's would get shorter thread life, and be more prone to chunks coming off.

Definitely take them back, never seen BFG's do that but haven't bought them in a while.

I have the exact tires in the exact size on my 4Runner.....it sees dirt roads every week, and they don’t look anything like this. I’ll go back to discount and ask them what’s up.....but based on my past experiences they will blame it on me! Stay tuned....

I’ll be honest. This isn’t the first time
I’ve seen stuff about the KO2 with similar issues. Yes I’m aware all tore manufacturers have issues, but with my own personal K02 experience I won’t buy them again.

No problems with mine. I've had them on and off for twenty years. Been of most jeep trails on the west coast. I've seen mild chunking on granite such as this.

Man I’ve had my KO2s for about 20k miles, snow rated, purchased about or less than 2 years ago and they’re still practically brand new.

I have read about recent quality issues but they’ve been so good to me I was planning on KO2s going to a larger size.

Have you contacted them about possibly getting a refund or replacement? I’d really like to see how much they stand behind their product and their CS.

Did the ones you had earlier this year give you trouble?

I don't understand what everyone is looking at. It looks like excess from the mold to me, not tread cracking. Looks just like the seam going across the sidewall in the first pic.

    Did they ever...

All 10 of them (within a few months) gave me nothing but issues. Terrible ride, terrible to balance with excessive weights necessary and excessive road force (even fresh mounted were in excess of 50+). Trash trash trash mfg process.

I haven't had a set of bfg KO since around 2006. Back then they were great aside from their apparent screw and nail magnets, I got punctures seemingly all the time. When I got this truck I went with used Yokos for super cheap and been pretty happy with them. Reviews on bfg KO are too full of bad for me to try them again.

As I worded it in another thread,

BFG relies too much on Heritage and History.

They need to get back to basics and mfg a quality tire today, for today's end users. Once they lose a customer base (IMO) it will be hard to get them back in the future, that is if they get their sh*t together.

Been a BFG guy since I could afford to buy good tires. Ordered Toyo AT3s for the wife’s 4Runner yesterday. It was hard to say goodbye but I don’t think they’re the same tire I used to drool over while buying a set of whatever was cheapest at discount tire. Especially since she got almost 70k out of the KOs that are coming off.

Exactly. These days there are so many other options, and less expensive options, so a lot of bfg fans are converting.

Toyo and Cooper have 50-60k tread warranties depending on which model you get. They both have surpassed BFG. BFG is like the Chicago Bulls of the 90’s.

My god these threads have been exhausting lately. It's almost as divisive as politics. I can't believe people have such strong opinions about these. I didn't see anything concerning in the original post.

I agree that there are a lot of competitors for BFG these days but the K02 is a proven tire that wears like iron. They might be more expensive but they typically last forever. On the other hand if you decided to go with another company you probably won't be disappointed. I had a budget friendly all terrain that was great, Hankook Dynapro. I just like the aggressive look of the K02 and others. Some Nitto's look badass also.

I don't see a problem with the OP tires at all either. I don't see cracks or chunking happening there, just mold splatter.

Still un sat though. Poor QA....looks like crap.
Hell, you expect that with cheap Chinese tires. Just sayin.
