My F150 did the same thing pulling into my driveway that is inclined. I would look at the lower ball joints.

Oh don't get me wrong, that isn't the engine though. That is an across the board issue. I wouldn't own a domestic piece of junk period. That is why I have my tundra! BUT that engine is a very well build piece(they make good power for such a small package)

If I was going to a 3/4 ton gasser I would take a hard look at the new Ford. Supposedly it does great. TFL has done quite a few videos on it.

To me, it doesn't look like they are giving you nearly enough for your truck.

Wait for the new Tundra at the end of next year and see if it has more payload? Or do you need a new truck right now?

I do not absolutely have to have a new truck. We are not looking at a huge camper. It will be 5k to 6k dry. It will pull it I know that. Just loading the family and all the stuff that comes with a camper and it is overweight a good bit. If I keep the Tundra, we will probably still get a camper but leave it at a camp site more than likely. We would just find a site on a local lake and go there on the weekends. All I would do is drop it off beginning of year, pick it up and store it during winter.

Tough decision for sure. You are still under warranty correct? Maybe @ColoradoTJ can chime in at this point...

Well...at least let Yota try to resolve your issues first imho. I mentioned @ColoradoTJ to help with your towing concerns because he knows his stuff regarding towing...wait for him to chime in. He runs a power plant so crazy hours....

If I was going to do serious towing or hauling I’d get a 3/4 or 1 ton. I used to be a GM buyer but I can’t stand their designs now. My 2019 Tundra has been great.

A WDH can help with tongue weight. I towed this 22ft trailer just fine with my Tundra. It came in at 6600 lbs. I was absolutely at the max GVW rating though. This is with wife and toddler too. If you’re going to tow a lot or get a big trailer then step up. If it’s just occasionally keep the Tundra.

Yes, he is respected and has a lot of good info. Been towing my whole life. Whether it is grain carts, cattle, skid steers, you name it. I have read and been involved in many towing threads in this site. Bottom line, my needs might change in the future and I want to be prepared. Can't say how much I love the Tundra. It has been great. Not sure what I will do.

2 years ago when I researched Platinums, they were worth $33k to $35k and dealers were selling similar trucks for $38k. I loooked on cars.com and autotrader.com and there are 5 2019 Tundra Platinum in silver for sale within 500 miles of Knoxville. They have between 23-43k miles. The cheapest price is $44 and most expensive is $53k for 2 year old used Tundras. These are the price of new and they are selling.... I know it is a depreciable asset and not an investment, but to pay $46,800 for a truck, drive it for 2 years and 50k miles and get $40k for it. You have to think about it. In one month when the 2021's start really hitting lots these inflated prices will come down. Just trying to take advantage of the situation so to speak.

This. There is no way I'd throw in the towel on a truck still under warranty.

I do not disagree. I will have dealer look at it next week. I am also going to play devils advocate here, haha. BTW I do owe some but I have quite a bit of equity in my truck. These points do not exactly pertain to me but valid points people make on here.

    1. Monthly payments go down a little and I save interest. I go from a 3.49% rate to a 0.9 for 72 months saving me about $75/month.

    2. I have 10k miles left on warranty on Tundra. I went from driving 30-33k miles a year to 15k a few months ago. I can go with the Chevy and now have 4 years or 60k of warranty. Tundra will be out of warranty in less than a year. All this while lowering my payment and picking up a lot of capability.

    3. I do not know what the future holds but I will be well equipped for bigger projects and more capability in theory in the future. I am one of those that if I am going to do something, I am going to do it right and then some. If you saw my mowers, guns, computers, boats, I way over buy. Take good care of them and they last much longer and get the value back on the back end.....

Add CP4 pump failures to that list too. I have put caster kits on 2 brand new 2019 F250s to cure the death wobble, thats rediculous for a $60k+ truck. Then the typical frozen def tank due to heater failures. At least with 19+ you can add the dpf% screen so you can force a manual regen so you dont have to carry a laptop with FORScan around with you on cross country trips.
I would tow over weight with my Tundra before I would DD a 3/4T. HD leaf packs, box the rear half of the frame and throw a rear D60 or 14bolt under it and the Tundra would be fine and still reliable.

I absolutely would have the dealer take a look. Could it possibly be software related?

Good luck in whatever direction you go. You seem like you thoroughly look at your options. I’m sure you’ll make a good decision.
For the record, even Stevie Wonder thinks that GM is butt ugly!

I also thought about software also. I found a few older threads somewhere on here stating there was a TSB for the transmission. An update that would change a little of the programming to fix issues similar to mine. Seem to be a little older miles if I recall. I think 15 to 17 year Tundras?

Regardless, if it was software, you would think it would do it randomly since the day I drove it off the lot.

Other than that, truck is perfect and no slipping. Shifts as it should and drives and pulls just like new. Only that random "catch/jerk" that goes on.

Well boys, 2 things happened today......

    1. I called the Toyota dealership I talked to 3 weeks ago about ordering fuel pump for recall and headlight recall done. Took me 2 days to get a hold of the service guy I talked to. I finally got a hold of him. He had no clue who I was, didn't recall talking to me, set an appointment date of 10/22/20 when I talked to him 3 weeks ago as parts should have been in for now. I had notes of the conversation and trusted the dealership. Stuff happens, and people make mistakes. Put me out another month now....

    2. That pissed me off enough at the time that I called the 2 Chevy dealers I talked to this week and had numbers from. Both truck were sold last night and this morning....

    3. Good family friend owns a Chevy dealership. I do not like to buy or sell from friends or family as those usually end up bad. Talked to him about 2500hd LT with the add one I want. He said good luck with that. You happen to be looking for the hardest to find a hottest model right now. Basically same features as an LTZ. Sub $50k truck and $10k less than 1500's, twice the truck. He said he will look in Chevy's inventory system and see what he can locate for me as he sees a little more than Joe Smoe off the streets see.

    4. I am busy at work right now and just don't have time to go through this craziness. I think the Tundra is perfectly fine and lay low until all this auto craziness dies down.

Before you even think of this "twice the truck" truck go here and spend some time reading through the forums on how bad the new GMs are, Ive had 3 GM trucks myself. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/forum/245-20192020-silverado-sierra-troubleshooting/
