Hey guys hope all is well during these crazy times we are living.

Experiencing something weird when I turn left and only left i hear some type of rubbing noise coming from the middle driver side I feel it at my feet as I drive. Originally thought it was tire rubbing but I double checked everything took off the wheel liners and no visible rub any where.

I then noticed when on 4x4 I can’t really turn my vehicle can only go in a straight line can barely make a turn is this normal ? I have never owned a 4x4 I tested my dads truck on 4x4 and it can turn fine . Also it takes really long to go back to 2wd don’t know if this is also normal ? I have scheduled an apt with the dealer wondering if anyone has some insight on this as the dealers in my area are not the best at service.
    I have a 2018 tundra 4x4 platinum with 14k miles

Any insight would be awesome thanks guys

    Stay safe

Could you take a picture behind the wheel to show what’s going on back there?

Are you engaging 4X4 on pavement and trying to turn?

It is, but BRM blue is usually slightly faster. However, in this case I was typing one handed cause I didn't want to get pork rind grease on my keyboard. So you win this round.

Not good. Never do that! Did your Tundra come with an owners manual? If you go to the Yota dealer have them explain to you the proper method of engaging 4 wheel drive. Engaging LO range 4 wheel drive can also cause serious issues on dry surfaces. The drive train binds up and really makes it hard to get back to 2WD even when in 4 HI.

What do you think happened what can possibly be damaged? So in theory if I’m puking a boat out of a ramp and I turn on 4x4 and I need to make a turn as I drive out is a no no ?

In that case no but go slow and once your off the ramp disengage 4WD. Making a tight turn when in 4WD causes drivetrain binding on hard dry surfaces. Avoid turning too tight and disengage 4WD as soon as you clear the boat ramp for example. You won't potentially break anything if you follow that example. Higher speeds when turning in 4WD can certainly break something on a hard dry surface. Avoid using 4WD on hard surfaces unless you deem it neccessary, even at a boat ramp.
