Woke up and bought a Tundra

I've been a member here for over a year, silently browsing, and thinking about buying a Tacoma, then a Tundra, for more than a couple of years now. I rented a few Tacomas when on work trips, waited for the 2020s with CarPlay, decided they were too small, rented a couple of Tundras, decided they were perfect, and decided to wait for for the new gen Tundra and make a decision between that and the current generation - always wanting the TRD Pro trim.

Today I woke up and decided I'll be waiting forever, a truck will be useful to me now, I'm struggling with space with 2 kids, and towing a trailer, and hauling stuff with the SUV I have.

So here's my very first truck and Tundra. It's not the most fancy Tundra out there, but it will serve me very well for now, and tide me over very nicely until my future dream purchase.

2021 Tundra TSS Off-Road. First up, I've got to get rid of the awful chrome. I saw someone on here recommend some stick on options for the Tundra, can't remember the name. What is generally the best method, something like that or getting it wrapped? Any recommendations in Dallas, TX? I also want to do the cliched grill swap and get all the chrome off this thing.

I just picked exact same truck in black in San Antonio, yesterday. Working on dechrome and OEM LED conversion myself.

I just don’t understand why they still use so much chrome! Is the best option to order the oem grill, surround and bump?

Congratulations and welcome! Excellent color choice. There are stick on and clip on options for the bumper ends but color matched parts or aftermarket bumpers are the way to go. Message @Roman for OEM parts. Or, search your local craigslist for take off parts.

Some buyers really like the chrome, others don't, and still Toyota will always win in the end selling color matched parts and an assortment of different grilles and surrounds. I searched for two Months to find a Sport because i personally dislike chrome. Different strokes for different folks. :)

    Welcome from DFW!

I called a few places about wrapping my grill surround and was quoted 350 minimum and they don't have exact colors so you would pick what matches the best (a little easier for you with white). They wouldn't wrap my bumper ends and said they had to be powder coated (either 500 a set or for all 4, that was out of budget so I don't remember).

I vote to buy the OEM grill surround and bulge, but you can find cheaper ways to cover your bumpers. Just my 2 cents. Enjoy your truck

Why not just pull the grill surround and take it to the body shop for color-matched paint an clear coat. My local body shop will do it for about $300.00. Oh, and welcome, from Southeast Texas!

I think it looks great with the chrome.
Not sure why all of a sudden the last few years everyone has become Amish or Mennonite :hattip:and decided to shun the chrome.

    Welcome! Nice looking rig
The SR trucks use black paintable plastic around the grill and on the bumper ends, thats my upcoming winter project. Just ordered steel rear end cap replacements that’ll be here next week. Going to prep and paint everything myself (my pops restores old vehicles and has a paint booth)
I refuse to slap “bumpershellz” over my chrome, especially where I live in Maine with the salty winters. I seem to be in the minority though but was raised to fix things instead of cover them.. my dad would be ashamed if I did that

edit: I went the Tacoma route and had a 2015 for a few years. Im a 5’3” female and even I thought the thing was cramped. LOL

Welcome! Truck looks great...I might be in the small minority here but I think Toyota put the perfect amount off chrome on these packages.

I thought most body shops won't paint over chrome as it doesn't adhere as well?

COngratulatoins on buying tundra and welcome from dallas, tx here as well.
i personally dislike that much chrome and thats one of the reason i went with TRD sport package so i wont have to deal with dechromanization. But i have to wait atleast 2 maybe more months before i get my truck.
If you dnt mind me asking, how much did you pay OTD and what was msrp and addons were on truck?
