So does anybody know if you can take the exterior door handle from a double cab apart?

I need to separate the part you pull from the base. I bought one from eBay to try and figure out before I go to paint my truck. I can’t figure it out but they had to paint the thing somehow

    Moving to the lunch table
Something similar happened with Mom's sequioa.

I started her truck, backed it up, and pulled into a better spot in the driveway. I left it running.

Her, and I were chit chatting. She got in, and instinctively reached for the key, and turned it. Instead of engaging the starter, and messing everything up... the truck killed the engine.

We laughed, and I explained that it apparently has some sort of running safety which is a good thing in that case.

Not sure if our older rigs are that "smart."

Spots kinda defeat the purpose of ditch lights.

Ya, we’ve got spotlights on the a-pillar of our bucket trucks at work to shine power lines down the row. I think that’s where my reasoning was at. I was able to call and change my order to floods though.... crisis averted. Floods make way more since especially with the side shooter lights

Yea ditch benefits from wide or cornering lights. If you wanted a spot light like seal, old crown Vic spotlights with leds. Lol

Why do they get mounted near base of windscreen. At speed, wouldn't they make more sense mounted at the front bumper? I can see higher is better, so a cross bar on the roof, but that's kinda far back. Say - whatever happened to mounting the Aux. lights atop a roll bar in the bed?

Replaced an alternator belt on a Toyota forklift, 4Y engine. Easy peasy. Makes for good practice. :D
    20201013_234332.jpg
Blew out the radiator, engine, and cleaned up the battery clamps too.

    It was a nasty ordeal.

Edit: here's the old belt. It was flopping around on the pulleys, and alternator like a wet sock.

    Agreed.

    Head of maintenance doesn't care.

These are the "extra things" I do of my own choice.

TG's policy is run it till it breaks, and if it won't run change it so it will run.

That sucks. I remember arguing with corporate about replacing things like boilers.
It's time. That's just a guideline. look - rust. leaking. Has your guy been doing his maintenance? All documented in this cabinet right here (pat, pat). Can you make it last another 5 years? With luck another year. We need to save the money. It's in this years budget, let's push off replacing the gazebo.....

I completely understand your woes, and frustrations.
Last night during a change over, I noticed that a proximity switch signal cord was frayed, and worn. Showing at least 3 conductors. I called supervisor over the radio, and asked him to "Come take a look." He came over, and I made him aware of it. I was told simply to wrap it in tape, and let it ride.

I asked for that in writing, after a brief spat, it was documented that my supervisor was made aware of it by me, and that he wanted us to repair it by taping it up.

These particular cords are fun to replace with lots of downtime, and struggle due to the routing of them, and my being a "fat-body." Or so I've been told.

His reasoning was "We don't want that downtime on our shift." I explained that someone, some time will need to replace it. Why wait until it completely fails when it only half works now?

    What do I know? :notsure:

I had an even longer message typed out here, but decided it best to bite my tongue. No need.

Probably about right. Highest I got was towing probably 3000 lbs and it barely crested 175. Before I’d be in 190 territory

Dang, I don’t know who or why they thought I was a good idea but I’ve seen a couple of 2nd gen Tacoma’s with dodge tow mirrors. Hell I found a 1st gen tundra double cab with em on Instagram. The dang mirrors double the width of those trucks

disclaimer: I do keep mine on my dually flipped up all the time #moosepower :D

Im not mad at this, I figured somebody would call me out in having a dodge lol if I had a srw truck I’d run with em down. The mirrors down really do suck on the duallys, you can’t see around the fender flares or the flatbed whichever your running

Does this sound crazy? An 06 double cab, 07 tundra, and 06 Tacoma all share the same part number for fog lights best I can tell. Wonder what the chances the Cali raised cube brackets would fit our trucks is? Tundra solutions picture is install instructions for an 06 double cab tundra. The Toyota website wouldn’t confirm fitment on an 06

Toyota’s fog lights are pretty universal. My corolla has 2020 Tacoma fogs.

That’s what makes me think that Cali raised bracket will fit. I know some guys on here have made they’re on brackets but if there’s an off the shelf option I’m gonna go that route.
