Is there a thread for aftermarket tow mirrors? I'd like some advice or threads to read.
    Thanks

I have some from 1aauto. I would save up and get the factory toyota ones. I dont think any aftermarjet tow mirror is going to fit and seal right. Just my opinion

True story JUST happened: two lane country road, some other brand truck waaay over the line. Mirrors collided at 50mph. Black plastic flying everywhere. His mirror completely destroyed. My OEM tow mirror has a scuff that prob doesn’t even need to be buffed out.
Oh and they are really great for towing too. :) I can see all around my trailer and no vibration at hwy speeds.

I recently installed boost because they checked these boxes for me:

reverse lights, heated, BSM, smoked glass led front signal, all while available in black.

the icing on the cake is I sprung for the power fold and love it. Truck didn’t have power fold but I got an oem switch with the power fold button to replace mine and wired their retrofit kit up to it.

They also have the chrome and paintable too. Some vibration exists which is annoying considering how much I paid for them but it’s actually not bad.

I opted to wire the reverse lights up to my bed light wire so I can turn them on and off at will.

Just put on the Boost Auto ones today. They seemed to be a good company with decent feedback and very good customer support. So far they are good, very little vibration but I need to test them out more before I make a finally judgement on them.

courtesy of @Toshito. It’s as close to it as you can get. Basically they send you a kit with an aftermarket switch(trash) and wiring kit which you can cut the power wires off(oem switch already has power). You run their retrofit signal wires to the oem switch location, replace the oem switch with the new one, and you can remove two wires from the harness Amazon sends you with the replacement oem switch, plug them into the existing harness, and just crimp those onto the signal wire. I know it sounds complicated but once you’re looking at it it’s easy.

    new switch is cheap too:

    here’s his thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/power-folding-mirrors-boost-auto-parts.71874/#post-1916248

honestly for all the features you get the price is good and they look/work great

I have those sitting in my garage since I went and purchased proper tow mirrors. I felt they didn't add a lot of visibility unless they were aligned just perfectly. Then I forgot to bring them with me whenever I picked up the camper so was driving back to the house blind.

Overall they worked decent for the price but I wanted something better.

I'll sell you mine for $20 plus shipping

That would be a good deal, but I bet the shipping would cost just as much.

I have been reading up trying to decided on which to get. I think I'm going with the Boost Auto GM style. However, I still have not pulled the trigger. This thread is one of the few that I have seen multiple positive replies for the OEM.

I think the boost and the OEM are good options. As I mentioned I went with boost for the feature set you get and the price you get it at. It cost is the main concern, then you go with something like the eBay ones. I would avoid clip on as well.

Just installed Boost auto GM style mirrors (driver side) with BSM option on my 2020 tundra but getting messages on the dash. Have not installed passenger side yet because of the error.

    BSM Malfunction, see dealer.

Has anyone gotten this message after installing tow mirrors or do I just need to drive around more to let it recalibrate?

    Thanks .

mine worked right away. You purchased the BSM option from Boost? Maybe make sure there are no loose connections on the plugs? I would call Boost support

Has anyone had any issues with the glass on the Boost mirrors? I’m looking to add tow mirrors and I think they are the brand I will go with. I’ve had a bad experience in the past with the glass on aftermarket mirrors being distorted and off. Thanks.

Considering Boost as well, mainly for the features (front and rear signals) and styling. I’m sure the OEM are reliable, but they look pretty bland, IMO.

Got my Boost ones installed, but haven’t hooked up so the extras yet. Had OEM on my last truck. Really like these ones even more.

Nothing. I run these and am extremely happy. They did have a slight vibration at first but a small foam block behind the lens fixed that. Definitely don’t like how the standard OE or aftermarket “tow mirrors” stick out farther even when fully retracted.

I ended up getting a set of them. The mirrors are a bit small, but they work fine for me.

Are the OEM ones (part numbers 87910-0c221, 87940-0c221) @ $201.25/ea (give or take, a little less on some places) comparable to the Boost set @ $290 for the pair?

Namely, are both BSM capable, heated and non-power.

First off, the OEM tow mirrors are NOT BSM compatible. You will lose that with the OEM ones unless you wire in an LED in your sail panel or some other customization. The $290.95 option from Boost also would not include BSM, and would not have marker/running lights (turn signal only).

That said, the closest comparable version from Boost Auto that would have the same basic features at the OEM tow mirrors but also include the BSM light in the mirrors would be this variant, with a price of $395.95
    https://boostautoparts.com/products/tundra-mirrors?variant=31996462760071
    Namely, these options:
    • Black caps
    • Amber dotted (amber LED) lights
    • Signal & Running 1.0 (the OEM mirrors provide side markers AND flashing turn signals - this option would provide the same)
    • Low output flood (this is actually not a feature of the OEM mirrors, but you can't get the Boost ones without floods. You don't have to hook them up if you don't want to).
    • Upper glass defrost only
    • Pick any truck year
    • Manual Fold
    • Blind Spot monitoring in original mirrors
    • No seat position memory

Shame on me... slept on the Boost Auto mirrors and now the manual fold are out of stock. Hopefully they stock back up soon because I need them in about a month.

I’ve been reading about Boost and watching their videos but still not clear on the install. Is everything plug and play (power adjust, heated defrost, BSM) except the turn signal/running lights and reverse lights (if selected)?
