I’m pretty sure I followed the colors in that document, especially the red wire. I need to get back in it tomorrow as I’m wiring up the auto open tailgate mod. I’ll double check.

My pop and lock is working.

The only other thing I can think of is if they swapped the wires coming from the actuator right from the factory, so if they switched the placement of wires, that’s the only thing that would explain it...it’ll be interesting to see, thanks for letting us know!

I’m actually getting ready to install mine today. The one I ordered is apparently a new version PL8457HD model. It has different wiring with plug disconnects to remove the tailgate and inline fuses for the connection to the truck wiring. I’ll post some pics when I’m done.

Ok awesome, yea they must have fixed it at the actuator end instead of the instructions...lol...I just saw that new version, good to know!...maybe I’ll do an updated video on the channel just so no one gets confused, thanks for heads up!

Update: just installed the new version, PL8457HD and it works great. Not too loud. Install was just as @2020Platinum showed in his video, but the new version has Delphi connectors between the tailgate harness and the body wiring for tail gate removal, and an inline fuse with the quick splice wire taps. They updated the wiring so now the instructions are correct (its easy to swap if you mix it up). I normally solder my wiring, but the quick splices were easy and if they don't hold up, I'll just solder it later. All in all, great mod (should be a normally installed feature...) Took me about an hour, pretty easy install.

Here are pics of new (and old) grommets that come in the kit:

Here is new actuator with wiring pigtails:

    Quick splice connections:

    Installed tailgate wiring:

And finally, the connectors under the bumper for tail gate removal:

Actually, I posted the wrong pic (updated earlier post with correct one.). The instructions state blue to red, green to white/silver which is now correct as installed (they must have updated the wiring). The nice thing is with the new wiring connections you can easily change it.

I'm definitely going to add this to my truck. I'm learning that it's a slight inconvenience to have to pull the key out to lock/unlock the tailgate everytime.

Has anybody who installed the pop and lock have a wire already coming out of the grommet under the front passenger grommet like the picture attached. Trying to figure out how I’m going to make this work. I have a 2018 limited

I have three cables going through that grommet and not done all at the same time. The 1st time was for the pop n lock. The 2nd time was the amp power step. The last one was for the roof rack light cable. I just punch through the grommet each time and added RTV to seal it.

thanks, earlier I ended up taking the old grommet out, drilling a hole in the new grommet, then cutting a slit to the side with a razor blade to get the bed lighting wire to fit. Sealed it up and good to go.
