I ordered the Icons. Its conspiracy that the Refill Technique has gone by the wayside.

Yep, love my icons although stock says 20” for both sides which is way to small if you ask me. I used a 24” on the passenger side and it’s gets much more. I’m as anal with a clean windshield as PHM is with his cuticles so I replace my wipers about every 12-18 months depending.

I'm gonna put Bosch Icons on my truck and The Woman's Corolla next. Not sure if I'll do that before winter or next spring. Might do it before the snow flies and see how they handle the ice and snow.

They have a line intended for snow/ice. More info at the Parts Finder link above.

They work amazingly in the ice and snow since unlike the Trico ones there is no place for said ice/snow to clump up in between and not let the blade flex as it should.

I run stock Toyota blades off newer cars. Inserts for them are like $2 for me and they last about a year and perform well.

but before all this I use to only run Bosch icons.

What @shifty` said. I discovered yesterday they have some other lines intended for heavy duty snow and ice. Not sure how available they are or how much.

2 sets of Icons for 2 cars cost $100. :annoyed:

I checked with Stealer yesterday and the 1St Gen Tundra Is no longer stocked. I guess empty lord steals his off other cars. I might consider this on the next round of blades when it comes time.

I saw these older metal frame style on the Bosch site. They cost about $10 each on bigg Gurrl. Mixed reviews, but might give them a shot next time. They have the ability to slip in new $2 refills on a yearly basis like I used to do. Fugly though.

I got a refill for the rear window wiper on the Pius at the dealer. You could use those on the Tundra if you are old enough to look through the steering wheel.

Mononoke. Miyazaki is TOTH. To be clear, no weeb here, just grew up watching a lot of what would be considered "classics" today. Sadly, just to date myself, all within a couple of years of release. Think Vampire Hunter D, Fist of the North Star, Bubblegum Crisis, Akira, Gundam, GITS, Lain etc.

I can't keep up with all the crap available today. Back then it was harder to get and you either had to vaguely understand the language or find subtitled stuff. Recently re-watched Mononoke with the kids - both single-digit ages - and they loved it too, I still enjoyed as a too-old adult. Says a lot, I think.

I've had good luck with the Trico Neoform beam type and the Bosch Insight. Trico seem to last longer than the Bosch.

I hate buying wipers, mostly because they don't last more than 6-8 months for me before they start streaking. The dust on my road kills everything.

1st owner of my truck had it for 14ish years and lived on a dirt road. Didn't change wipers enough. Didn't change them when they started streaking. Now I have fine scratches on a perfectly good windshield I can't get rid of without a cerium oxide treatment I'm too lazy to get to at the moment. :burp:

Update on truck. I left battery disconnected over night.

Got home, connected battery, and jumped it. Didn't try to start on its own.

Disconnected the battery while running. Kept running.

Read the volts at battery clamps. 14.3-14.5 VDC while cold.

Hooked battery up, and clamped down. 14.3 VDC constant.

Let it idle with all lights on until warm with battery hooked up. At clamps lowest I saw was 13.9V.

From battery negative to alternator positive it was 14.28-14.30.

I let her run another 15 minutes, and then shut her down this morning.
    [IMG][IMG]

Truck fired right up unaided this afternoon. Just like old times. No lights flickering, no weird jumping on the battery guage, no weird sounds.

    Things I've done so far:
    1. Clean post clamps, battery posts, and wiring in clamps. Dielectric grease.
    2. Clean the easy to get to grounds. Dielectric grease.
    3. Clean/tighten Hot post on alternator. Dielectric grease.
    4. Disconnected damaged rear LB.
I ordered the HD/Cold weather alternator from Coo' Sprangs. 98% sure that my current alternator is non-toy so I had to eat the $75 core charge.

    All systems seem nominal.

Just finished the fist season of Utopia. What a bizarre show. Writers these days gotta be on drugs to drum up this stuff. A little creepy but I liked it and couldn’t stop watching.

I need to put ditch lights on. Backroads a lot more these days for me... but I want to devise a mount that goes on the mirror so I can keep the pods out of my line of site.

But I do prefer a custom mirror mount or insertion. Which you'll sell a limited run of (the brackets). :)
I hate how they look traditionally mounted.
