Hooking up new amp and speaker

Hello,I am trying to add a amp and a sub to my stock system which is the jbl system.i got a adapter that u tap in to a set off speakers to get power to amp,also for the road cables so u don't have to change the deck or open dash.i got power to amp but can't get no sound..now there is a jbl box under the rear left seat.

Let's see if we can break it down.
He is adding an amp and sub
He bought "some kind" of adapter that connects to the factory speaker wire.
This "adapter" will power up his new amp. So yoi dont have to run it from the battery or open up the dash console to run it.
I dont see how this is possible. As you need to run new power cable from the battery to the new amp.

Some how this "adapter" does power up the new amp but there is no sound coming out of the speakers.

This jbl box would be the factory amp for the speakers.

So now the question would be. What is this adapter you have and how exactly did you ran your setup?

 

To add an amp to the stock JBL system you need to:

1. Run a new power wire from the battery to the amp

2. Get some kind of DSP with the appropriate harnesses to both accept and translate the signal from the JBL HU, deliver that signal to the new amp AND then return that amplified signal back to the stock harness that goes to the speakers. Most people use an iDatalink DSR-1 as the DSP, they also provide the appropriate harness (TO3 for Tundra I think) to do all of the above. Some amps have DSPs built-in.

I’m guessing he has a signal on light from the wiring harness but no actual power hence no speaker power and no sound.

 

Pray for yourself.... An adapter to tap into speaker wire to power an amp? You have to run a large gauge wire directly to the battery for an amp. And "for the road cables so u don't have to change the deck or open dash"? This makes sense to you??

OP...I see no way the stock wiring would safely power an aftermarket amp. It is a THICK 4-gauge wire used to power and ground aftermarket amps. Something does not add up here?
