This is what I'm thinking. Beams and headers are used on load bearing walls too.

My first Tundra was about 1/2 inch too long for my garage so I cut a square out of the sheet rock on the front wall for the bumper to fit into, which gave me 3/4 of an inch more room. I just had to remember to tap the wall every time I parked!

OP imI probably going to be in same boat as you only I haven't committed to the truck yet :(

If you don't mind, can you give me a measurement from your drywall to your garage door? I have basically exactly 227" from my drywall to the closest point on the garage door.... Which is probably 2" too short lol!

Yep, according to Google, Crewmax and double cabs are 229 inches.

I built a home about two years ago now and I made sure I picked a plan that I could get my truck in the garage. I have about 3 feet to spare when pulling in.

Has anyone got any update to this thread? I am in the same boat and was hoping to see if any y’all have seen a low profile bumper. I’d be willing to buy both front and back if it meant gaining a couple inches. I am just short of parking my dream truck in my garage. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I think he found a new girlfriend with a bigger, garage. That's what I would do if I had my dream truck.

Cheapest solution is to cut the drywall and studs back and make a recessed shelf in the garage the exact right size.

Cut the studs, turn them sideways and reattach, gain 2".

I'm really damn close in my garage too. It measures at 231" but I can't put the 229" truck straight in because of the steps.

Garage is 22' x 20' but naturally, it's 22' wide, rather than 22' long.

Do you mean the concrete step up into the house? If so, that can be fixed. I had the same problem when I 1st brought my new truck home. Just need a cheapo Harbor Freight diamond tipped circular saw blade, a Home Depot jackhammer rental, a bag of concrete, and a day's worth of busting your ass.

Is is possible to cut a relief in the back wall of the garage? It could be possible to adjust the framing on that back wall to gain close to 3 inches. Think of how a door or window is framed- using a header and posts to allow clearance for the height and width of the truck. Could pick up about 3 inches for sure. You would lose any insulation in that area however.

Get the ramps in place where they work and draw a line around with magic marker.

Even easier. Just yank those out and make it 2 steps that are shorter and a bit steeper.

creative! I had issue similar at my old house. I knew I wouldn't fit a tundra in current garage. So wife and I were wanting to upgrade our living conditions so we built a house and I made sure garage was plenty deep. I opted for a 38' deep x24' wide garage. lol

My truck won't fit in my garage either, but its not the front to back length that's the problem.
The truck is both too wide and too tall, even on stock suspension to fit into the opening.
My wife's Highlander is even a tight squeeze side to side, mirrors clear by about an inch on each side.
Older house with a smaller door opening = truck stays on the driveway.
Luckily its just a rental for the time being. Hopefully it fits in my actual house in San Diego... I guess I'll find out eventually.

Mine will fit lengthwise if I remove the workbench but wifes 4runner and VW stay in garage fulltime. I cant squeeze all 3 in.

Fortunately I can still get in enough to work on it if needed. Its pretty close to the shark fin but fits under the door frame fine. The rubber door seal is exactly 83" high.

Dragracer_Art nice looking truck, I was hoping you could share your tire and suspension size, I just ordered at 2021, and have the exact same size door opening and wanted to order a lift, wheels, and tires.

    Thanks

Man I miss my garage in our last home. Custom built with a 900 sq ft garage with huge doors. Now we have a nice garage, but it has two smaller doors. I have to fold both mirrors to get it in.

Its a 3/1 Ready Lift with 2" shackles for a total of 3/3.
    Wheels are Method 305 NV's. 18x9 with +25 offset.
Tires are 35x12.5 Nitto Terra Grapplers.
I think its a great, affordable combo.
Many here will criticize the Ready Lift kits but for a truck like mine that will rarely, if ever leave the pavement, its perfect. It still rides soft and comfortable like stock even with the heavy sidewall LT rated tires.

Thanks for the quick response, that's to bad some people in a forum like this are so quick to judge. In any case thanks for sharing. I also like that you kept the take.

Now I wish there was a alternatives to that damn shark fin.
