we don’t stock em. Found anti-seize on the hub works better. I still run the papers on my trucks. But that’s only because I have a lot someone sold me on Craigslist for 10 bucks lol

Ok just because I have 3 Tacoma transfercases, 8 rear diffs and. Front diffs doesn’t make me a hoarder!

 

Yeah. I’ll buy some more as they are around .96c each. I use both the anti-sieze and the paper gasket which surprisingly has some toughness to them when dry. I might put a thin layer of some Toy FIPG on them and let them dry before putting them on. Should last a lifetime. Hope to find my lost ones soon.

Truth be told, it took some time to remove the old paper gasket, even with a wire wheel.

Anyone know of any replacement front bottom leather seat covers? Both my driver and passenger are separated at the stitching and all cracked.

So, I went into the rabbit hole to find this gem on toyota-4runner.org forums:

I spent a bit of time thinking about this gasket when doing my axle seals last week. It's purpose is not to stop the drum sticking. It is there to keep gear oil out of the brake drum.

The outer axle seal is there to direct oil out of the ABS cavity and into the oil slinger on the back of the axle flange. The oil slinger sends the oil out a little hole in the front of the axle flange that lines up with holes in the brake drum. IF this gasket is in place the oil will end up on the OUTSIDE of the brake drum not inside it! It's a clever as F**k design when you think about it. In theory if this system is all in place you could have a axle seal failure and you would see the oil coming out the front of the brake drum not from the inside. It's a bit hard to put in words but if you have the parts on your hands as I did last week you can see how it is designed to work.

This is how they protect themselves from making quality products. If the brand doesn't exist a year from now, they don't need to warranty and don't worry about brand reputation. It's a way of flooding the market with garbage products with no QA/QC. Sometimes the products are so simple you can't get it wrong, so maybe it doesn't matter. A lot of times it's not the case.

Amazon is a scourge.

I realize I'm days late to this party, but my Porsche sat in one of these for nearly a decade. The container was next to dude's house, in the country in central IN. Our weather is just like yours, except a bit more humid. If it had been stored anywhere else on that dude's property, it would have just dissolved.
No ventilation. Just the big double doors used to load/unload the container.
Can't recommend enough.

I plastidipped my emblems. It's been a couple years and I should peel and hit them again soon. I used the matte black and then coated it with their plastidip glossifier. It helps the dip hold up in the sun by an impressive amount while also adding a gloss finish. I wouldn't plastidip anything without that glossifier after being able to use it for a while.

 

This is true. My paper gasket was just 2 weeks old when the Stealer repair failed. Oil soaked my brand new high dolla MK Yakihama shoes.

Keep in mind there are two styles of paper gaskets. The round one in my picture and there is one that has a clip off the roundness. Not sure if the quote from @ktundra is about the latter. Never used that style before.

I don’t see how any paper gasket can keep oil off the shoes with where/how it enters the drum.

 

Excellent. Did you remove them or just mask them off?

 

Fixed the access cab pop-out windows. The connector had cracked on both ,one totto point where it was NMC. I've had the window pinned closed for a couple years. These ones are aluminum, and came with a right sized punch to pop the pins out.

Lubbed them up with silicone on re-install and they are smooth. Great ten dollar ten minute fix, why did I wait so long?

 

I guess I'll save my $$$ and apply anti-sieze compound as @empty_lord reccomended.
