What are you guys using to keep the mic wire in place along the dash and A pillar?

I went under the dash and inside the pillar using zip ties to hold it in place. I drilled a small hole very close to the diameter of the mic and used black rubber o-rings to sandwich the mic in the hole.

Picked up the Sony XAV-AX3000 and tossed her in:

    2020-08-29 14.01.51-1.jpg

Works great and allows for either Android Auto or Apple Carplay. Only thing I had to do in addition was ground the parking brake wire in order for Android Auto to work, so accomplished this with a PAC TR1 ground trigger kit.

Jesus Christ, my eyes. This has "Tacti-cool" written all over it. I've gotta say that I am genuinely surprised there's not a "Remove Before Flight" tag on that key.

Glad the thread is still alive lol. Seems to have gone sideways a bit but they all do. Anyways, I suppose if I had to do it all over again I'd probably find something that had a volume knob. I didn't really think it'd bother me, most days it doesn't but I still find myself reaching to spin a knob that isn't there to lower volume quickly. Glare sucks on Kenwood DMX9706s, you can try to adjust but it doesn't seem to do shit. 1 other thing, not so much the stereos fault, more googles...the screen mirroring feature will not work as of yet due to having a Pixel phone. The person I talked to at Crutchfield said it works fine with her Samsung. It's a google not releasing the rights to do it thing or something like that.

It's the shitty resistive screen, about the only thing that lets it down. I see they are releasing more Capacitive screen models now. Wireless mirroring works great for me, Samsung S10. :D I just used it this morning when I needed to put my truck up on my ramps. I mirrored the phone, powered up the camera and set the phone next to the stands so I could watch from inside so I wouldn't drive off the ramps LOL. This was on my F150. My DC has the DMX706s, no mirroring.

Lets see some pictures of that sucker. I’ve been tossing around that idea but wasn’t sure how it would line up with our dash.

Curious as well. I know those systems are adjustable for depth, height, and tilt but I'd like to see a pic also.

I agree about the glare on the 9706s. It’s a bummer for the price. Also wish it would auto dim at night.

Tested both the Pioneer and the Kenwoods that have wireless CarPlay. Felt that the Kenwoods were much quicker to move through screens. Way more responsive. That was the deciding factor.

Yes I also miss the volume control. But not much out there to choose from. Seems you give up something else. I went with the Sony 5000. Overall really like it and does not look as after market as some do. But seems would have been easy for them to at least add a quick mute button or power off.

On the AX5000, pressing the Home button for about 1 sec attenuates the sound.
