I paid $49,000 (including fees, no taxes) last week for my 2020 Platinum. Not the deal I was hoping for but the ridiculously high private party price I got for my old car made it still a great deal.

    2020 CrewMax 4x4 SR5 TSS
MSRP $49,801 + dealer doc fee
    Paid $42,000

Purchased in Oklahoma. Made a deposit in late July while truck was still enroute to the dealership. Delivered in mid-August. No trades, TTL not included. By the way, just looked, and Toyota still has $4500 rebate on this truck in Oklahoma (probably surrounding states as well).

Helped my father in law pick one up late July. 2020 DC SR. MSRP Was around 36,000 and they had some extras like tint, gps tracking, mats, wheel covers for an extra 1800. Got them to sell for 3500DD w/ 3000rebate and 900 of the extra BS off. So before TTL, he was at 30.4k. In Houston

How much did he pay in tax? They're different everywhere. Where I am there are no taxes.

I know this thread is titled "2020" but I just bought a 2021 SR5 4x4 double cab. The only extra I added was the spray-in bed liner. I used the car-buying service that Navy Federal Credit Union offers, so there is no haggling, the price is pre-determined.
It cost 37 and some change, which ended up being 41K out the door.
I pick it up next week.

The real problem are the ones that state OTD prices. Taxes and other fees vary by state so OTD is worthless. Then there are the ones that add trade in to make it even worse. Also most states give a tax break on trade ins so OTD becomes even more useless. Discount off MSRP with dealer add ons stated separately is the only useful info. It is could to know how much of a discount others are getting. You can use it for negotiating especially in the same state or city.

Nitrogen is a money maker for dealers. It is an easy sell to the uneducated. When I bought my last Tacoma I told them to take the nitrogen out and put regular air in. Then take the $200 off the final price. When I bought my Tundra I negotiated a price and then deducted all dealer add ons. When I bought my daughter a used Rav4 the dealer argued that add ons are the only way they can make their profit margins.

Agree. For example, in Oklahoma, if you ask for out the door price from a dealer, the quote won’t include TT&L, as those are paid at the tag office within 30 days after purchase. When quoting from an out of state dealer, I always specify not to include TT&L, because otherwise not accurately able to compare. Percentage off MSRP is all I care about when shopping for a new vehicle.

This might not be the exact best place to post this, but I'm asking because I'm currently looking at a 2021 Limited and found this in my searches.

I found a 2017 TRD Pro w/ ~63K miles for $41K. Is this a good price? I'm thinking it's a fair bit overpriced because for ~$5k more I could get a 2021 limited that has a nicer interior and more safety features at the cost of lesser suspension.

What would be the top price you'd pay for the above Pro given it's in a good condition when I go see it? Is there anything to look out for?

I have my pro for sale for that same price. According to NADA it’s a good deal at that price. Just depends on what exactly you want as a buyer.

Might also consider purchasing the limited and adding the Pro suspension.

I was in the same position and was shocked at how much the used Tundras sell for. I decided that if I was going to spend THAT kind of money I might as well buy my very first new truck (at 60 years old!). I ordered a 2021 last Friday. :).

Yeah, I'm leaning more and more towards just ordering. Did you just use the toyota site to request a quote? Did you have to pay MSRP?

Right, and really the suspension is a pretty small point. I'd likely just throw some 6112s up front to level it out.

I ordered the Pro suspension for my 2020 SR5 TSS. Should arrive this week. Certainly not the cheapest option, but it's a company truck anyway, and I've had some bad luck lately with aftermarket shops. I just wanted something the local Toyota dealer would install and stand behind.

Toyota resale is the reason I don't buy used either. I ran a quote on my son's 2018 TRD OR Tacoma a few weeks back on Carvana (just for fun) and they're willing to give almost exactly what I paid two years ago when new.

I used a car-buying service offered by my Credit Union (Navy Federal) so there was no haggling; the price was a pre-determined amount over invoice. I got the 2021 SR5 4WD double cab and the only option I added was the spray-in bed liner. 37K plus taxes/fees came out to 41K OTD. We have very high sales tax in TN due to not having State income tax.

DON'T pay MSRP for a limited. I would offer at least $4 discount plus rebate. Also no way I would buy the Pro at that price with 63k on odo.
