So I bought a 2018 limited with very low miles a couple of months ago. Finance guy messed up and is mo longer there. I called the credit company to make my first note and they have never heard of me or my truck. I went to dealership and they admitted that the finance guy messed up bad . He is no longer employed. I've been driving this truck and put new floor mats and bed cover . But the truck isn't even mine! I went to dealership yesterday and they said for me to go pick a brand new one for same price. Has anyone heard of this happening .? This is at a toyota dealership

Definitely sketchy. Also the fact they are going to give you a new truck for the same price also seems sketchy. What paper work do you have and who did you finance it through? Maybe they want this truck back because they feel they can sell it more than what they sold it to you. It sounds like the dealership released a vehicle to you although the transaction with your bank wasn’t quite closed out/properly documented.

A new one at the same price?

Do you even have any paperwork showing what you paid? How do you know you’re not getting ripped??

I had a friend go through something similar a while back... I highly suggest you talk to some legal counsel and see where this goes from there... I personally dealt with a shady stealership in Glendale, Ca never again will I ever car shop in that area....

I got all the paperwork showing 100% funded. I traded in my 18 f150 . I talked to some other dealerships and they looked at my paperwork and said that its approved and financing was looked good to go. First they were financing me through wells Fargo then the finance guy sold me master craft warranty and dropped my intrest rate to 2.5% if I went with another bank. I figured for a used vehicle ok cause in the end the intrest rate paid for the warranty. 1 month goes by and they said I needed to sign for the title transfer to go to bank they forgot. Another month goes by and I still heard nothing that's why I called bank and went to dealership.

yeah, sounds familiar, they will most likely double or triple your interest rate, sounds exactly like my friend's situation. You can always walk away...

I did when I returned the car back to the stealership, they paid me the down payment, and their overestimated value on my trade in, lol, cuz my trade was a POS, but they offered me a grand and I took the money and ran... In he end they wanted the car back, but I refused to return it until I got my check first, just like you buy a car, you give money they give you keys, so I made a big stink out of it, that I'd return the car when I got my check, and I was willing to go to court for it.... so I got my check personally handed and they got their car and keys with +5000 miles...

What most likely happened is they contracted on the wrong VIN and misreported it in some form or fashion and that would cost the dealership more money than you buying a different truck. If you had bad credit they would just pull you out of the truck and not have paid off your old loan. This sounds like a mistake that you can take advantage of, just have them swap your bed cover and enjoy the better deal.

Check your credit report. If it's been a couple of months the new loan if any should be on your report.

Well guys they gave me a 2021 nightshade for same price as my 18. The finance guy had screwed them I guess. Found out that he messed up over 20 deals. So they lost 2800 dollars on my deal. My payment is actually 15 $ cheaper per month. As of now I feel like I may have won a little.

Awesome glad it worked out for you. I read all the time about finance guys screwing over customers, this is the first where they screwed the dealership and the customer wins!:thumbsup:

The other possibility is that some thing happened in the truck that you had originally bought had a loan on it that was never paid off, and there was some sort of a title issue

Just curious what you did with the floor mats and cover from the original purchase?
