New 2020 Pro Owner First Impressions

Qualification: I've been driving a 2005 Taco TRD Sport 4 WD Double Cab for the past 15 years. It's like a comfy, old pair of shoes and I know exactly how it drives.

Time for new. I was shopping for a 20 Taco TRD Pro and really wanted one. I bugged my dealer (bought 4 new vehicles from them) and they said the Taco TRD Pros are hard to come by, but they had a Tundra TRD Pro on the lot in the color I was looking for. I looked at it, drove it, and was instantly hooked.

-I love the V8 performance - you step on it, the truck moves out smartly.

-I love the room - I'm 6'3 and had to fold myself up a bit to get into my Taco. I don't have that problem with the Tundra

-Sight Line - I love sitting tall in the saddle with the Tundra. I also love that I don't have the rear view mirror in my direct line of site like the Taco. I had to peer around and it was annoying. I'm still trying to figure out where the front of the Tundra is when I park.

-I love the road ride - smooth and easy. Compared to my Taco, it's another world.

-Creature comforts - the leather seats are awesome. The dual zone heating and heated seats make my wife happy. The sound system was very disappointing, but par for the course with Toyota. I'm not an audiophile, just want to hear tunes, so it's not a deal breaker with me. The cabin just feels good to me.

Negatives:

-This truck lacks the storage space my Taco has. I had storage behind and under the rear seats. I stored tie down straps, a fire extinguisher, and a First Aid Kit in my Taco. The Tundra has no room for that. I can't see why Toyota missed this room for storage space in their largest truck.

-Nannies: The Taco TRD Pro comes equipped with BSM and RCTA. These are great features, but not on the Tundra TRD Pro. Why exclude them?

Overall Impression:

I ABSOLUTEY LOVE the truck! I can get over the stereo and storage issues. This is a big truck delivering big performance and I smile very time I step into it.

they make plug and play stereo upgrades for the tundra. That should fit the bill.
for storage, check out the ESP storage underneath rear seat then you will be all set !

Welcome. I came from a 2nd gen taco as well and absolutely love my pro. I’d strongly recommend the ESP under seat storage box. I put a ton of stuff in mine.

Yes, storage is the one thing they could have done better.

BSM and RCTA are available on the Tundra, just requires the premium package with the parking sensors.
