So I try not to be one of those internet guys that says the stuff I have is awesome just because I have it.

I replaced my 5100’s with 6112’s over the weekend and it confirmed one thing for sure.

5100’s are pieces of shit. Worse than stock. Ride like a cement truck, and thats on the lowest setting (sorry to you guys who love them on the top setting but I don't get it).

I always knew it. I fought the thought cause I paid for them. Spent a few hours installing them. They “look” better than stock stuff with the zinc finish etc etc.

Anyway... I was pretty turned off by Bilstein, but got a good deal on new 6112’s already assembled. They are damn near a 2.5 coilover but half the price of a Fox/King etc. I don't do any serious wheelin’ so I decided to try em.

I mean holy shit. What a HUGE difference over the 5100’s. Just on pavement its so much smoother. Small chop, potholes etc just seemed to get soaked up. I’d imagine they’d only be better hauling the mail in the dirt.

Over the same stretch of road where the 5100’s would rattle around and ride like a wheel barrow, it now just kinda soaks it up and goes.

Nothings perfect...still rides like a truck, did nothing for bed bounce on a concrete freeway but worth every damn penny over 5100’s for you out there on the fence:thumbsup:

(6112’s on lowest setting, 20” Limited wheels with 275/60/20 BFG KO2...for set up)

Upgraded shackles with poly bushings in the leaf springs and rear sway bar will help with bed bounce. If I have a couple hundred pounds in the bed it’s rock solid.

100% on the 6112s. I had stock 1794 shocks (whatever they were -- black), 6112s eat them easy

Good deal. I'm contemplating going up to the 6112 because the ride of the 5100's is not what i remembered from having them on previous truck. I see mixed reviews on them as well tho. Id have mine on the 1.3" clip and looking for a good ride quality over the 5100' may just give them a try thanks for the review!

Ill be putting my 6112s on this weekend. Super excited! Went back and forth on adding the shackle in the rear (1.5") and I think I am just going to do it. Ill have wee stock tires for a bit but thats okay :p

Yes the 6112 do ride better than the 5100. But I don't think the 5100 are that terrible, I had the 5100 on top setting in the past on Tundra for around 8 years and served me well. I also have the 5100 on my Sequoia, no complaints. I have the 6112 on my Tundra, no complaints either
