As a member of the mountain biking community around farmland illinois
(We have two very good mountain bike parks, one from an old strip mine) I LOOOVEEE pulling up to the trails in the 1st gen, and all the hipster curly haired 2nd gen tacoma guys put their vape down in awe as if they just met their biological father for the first time.every mountain biker drives either a tacoma or a Colorado. Dont get me wrong I love tacos but I just love how forgotten the gen 1 tundra is, all the taco boys just see a truck that almost is as small as theirs but has a v8 baby! Lol

We are spoiled out in the desert with four mountain ranges surrounding us and plenty of great single track, flow trails, and uber technical trails too.

 

Epic Pucks right there.

 

Reminds me of when I lived in Florida and people I knew told me they would go "hiking" in various parts of the state. Hiking to them was walking in sand with some occasional woods.

 

Loaded down for the next adventure. Headed to the outer banks. Praying for good weather.

Interesting. I've never thought about it this way, but then again I've never been in a position to hire people so I've never needed to see it from this perspective.

This is what happened the previous two times Japan showed up. They left the same person in charge both times. I think ole Mr. "Jessica" groomed the new people to be similar to him. All the new office personnel that were hired by him were young, and green. Most were fresh out of college. Happy to have a job in their new field. Ready to learn from him.

That's a guarantee.

I'll be more than happy to speak with them. Too bad I'm on the opposite shift.

 

Quick story about Ole "Jessica".

When pops was working on a notch machine next to Crystal who was running a similar notch machine. Operators had the start switch taped up so when they left the light curtain (safety device like an e-stop.) the machine would cycle saving the operators one step, and 6 seconds on cycle time.

Crystal loaded her part, and left the light curtain. Machine didn't run. So with the start switch taped up she entered the light curtain, and adjusted the part under the double Japanese razor blade. She made the sensor, and the machine cycled. Her hand was under the double blade on a pneumatic cylinder with 110 psi behind it.

It cut her hand off at the wrist, and cut her fingers off just behind the knuckles.

She screamed, and turned around. She was about to start running. Pops turned around, grabbed her knub, and put a death grip on her wrist. He told her, "if you want to live do everything that I tell you to do."

He laid her in the floor, and elevated her arm.

He covered her knub with a rag, and called over the radio to the dayshift supervisor. He said "Jimmy, I need an ambulance to bay door 30 right now." He wasted no time calling 911. Ambulance was there in 12 minutes.

In that time pops talked to her, and told her stories about us, and things he's done. Things to help keep her calm. While he was talking to Crystal Ole Jessica showed up. Instead of offering help, or even acknowledging what happened he simply took pictures of the machine, crystals hand in the machine, the start switch, and of her and pops laying in the floor. Without a word, he left and returned to the office.

Other people in maintenance showed up, and he told them to find a a ziplock baggie, and to bag up her hand pieces. They did, and put them in a box of ice.

The EMTs showed up on scene, and relieved pops of his duty. After she was loaded up, and being treated one of them asked pops where he was when it happened. He said he was right next to her. The EMT said "I could tell. There was very little blood on the floor. Usually an injury like this is always a fatality. She's lucky you were here.

After all this I've never really respected that man. I mean for fucks sake.

 

Most definitely. In a way, I'm fortunate that I moved back in. So it's not absolutely necessary for me to have a job.

It seems to me that turnover is high everywhere. Most people of a younger age simply don't want to work.

So guys, Ive got a confession to make. I test drove a 3rd gen Taco OR today and actually... there was a lot that I really liked about it. But I think that its safe to say that once you get past that "new vehicle feel", it really doesn't have a lot to offer. The radar cruise is slick as shit and it actually fit in my garage but those 278 alleged horses didn't feel anywhere near the same. Something tells me I would be forever kicking myself in the ass for trading a full roll down window for a puny little 8" piece of sliding glass.

So then I came home and spent a bunch of money on my truck. Better than 5 years worth of debt right?

Well, in more positive news for me...

My ditch light brackets from Rago shipped yesterday.

I ordered the relay box for all my accessory lights, things, and stuff today. Thanks to @FrenchToasty for reccomending this, and providing a link.

Now, all I really need now is a good set of lighted switches.

Even better advice would be where to mount the light switches. I only have two blanks available. The one to the right of the fogs, and the security blank.

I suppose I could do the anytime foglight mod, and then reuse that switch/blank.

Any thoughts?

People buy for the horsepower, but drive with torque. I'm not sure on the torque numbers between the 2, but I bet it's quite a bit different.

Yeah there aren’t a lot of switch options for your trucks. You could look for a 3/6 bank blank switch plate and buy switches that fit it(Air On Board, sells blanks and switches to match)
I might bite the bullet and get a switch pro during Black Friday, if the retailer doesn’t Jack up the price the week before the “sale”

I've told people for years that if stores slowly increase prices until BF. The sale isn't really a sale. Just looks that way.

Holy crap! I ordered my bumper yesterday off of Amazon and it shipped 30 mins after ordering. Now it's already out for delivery for today, despite saying october 7th

Found AOB.com. this looks cool, but really not sure where I have 4x2 inches of space in an easy accessible place.

Here is a thought I had, but it would like kinda crummy. Plus it involves drilling holes in the main dash plastic which is something I don't even enjoy the thought of.

Get this, or similar items that are illuminated and mount them in the dash here...

OBX is nice! Sounds like fun. As long as you avoid the rain, this is the perfect time of year to go, Oct/Nov and April/May timeframe.

Hell yeah!

Couple of thoughts: Don't use lighted switches in the peripheral of your cluster, it's an unnecessary distraction to night driving.

Second, safety FFS! Wwhy you taking photos of your cluster while actively driving, and breaking the law (speed) in the process?

Third, you could just as easily get a right-angle switch mount plate to mount something just under the dash, or if you have no center console, install one.

Last, your CEL is on, yo.
