What refresher are you using on the wheels? I coated mine with dlux and give them a wipe with 3-1 nowadays.

it's a small 3 or 4oz bottle of what I believe had essence on it, but i could be wrong. i'll check when i get home. when I bought the wheels and tires through Mr. Wheel Deal, they had a sale when buying lots of items, and one of the things was ceramic coat the wheels for only $30 vs the $120 they usually advertise for pricing. I couldn't pass it up, and it has actually been holding up pretty well. Mine will get a spritz of the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic spray wax every month or 2, but not really much done to it aside from washing them

I put Cerakote on one of my daughter’s wheels the other day. Hers are old and oxidized. We’ll see how it holds up.

 What kind of finish are her wheels? I thought cerakote only bonded to a porous style plastic. I didn't even think it'd even bond to metal.

what's a good tire dressing? That Pan the Organizer dude on youtube seems to like Chemical Guys VRP. I'm looking for something that leaves more of a Satin finish than glossy

edit: nvmd, looks like some folks recommend Griot's Black Satin Aerosol a couple pages back

Matte black (MB Chaos). The reason I’m so impressed with it is because of how well it restored and held up on my metal nerf bars.

Yeah the search function is a little weird. But when it comes to detailing products it’s usually covered in these threads. I get that people don’t want to scroll hundreds of pages trying to find out about one thing and products change so there is that.

Detailing was a chore that became an obsession for myself.

Glad I came across this thread.

Question: Would using ironx or similiar products on paint affect the sealer/wax/coating?

It will pretty much wipe out a wax.
Effects on sealants will vary, depending on how good it is. For example, it will definitely take Beadmaker off, while a stronger one like Powerlock or Reload will hold up better.
I haven’t used it on a ceramic coating, but according to Carpro IronX is safe to use on one.

That said, most generally follow IronX up with a clay bar. By the time you do both pretty much anything short of a ceramic will be severely degraded, if not completely gone.

I would plan on putting on a fresh sealant or coating after using a decon. It may not strip it all but it will take a bite out of it. It will obviously effect wax sealant or coating differently but it will have an effect none the less.

Even with a coating I would apply reload or some type of ceramic maintenance product. 3-1 seems to really do well on top of my coated truck.

I picked up the Griot's Black Satin Aerosol and have been happy with it. I had been using a gel that wasn't easy to apply to AT tires. The spray is much easier. Doesn't leave a gloss finish, just smooth satin black. You can do more coats for more gloss if you want.

Today on the back of a top shelf in my garage I found a years old, almost empty bottle of Nu-Finish from back when I didn't know much about detailing products. As I was walking to the trash I paused and decided I might as well put the small amount of the bottle to use. So I wiped off the mailbox with a wet rag and put 2 good coats of Nu-Finish on it.

So my question is, does this count? Can I say that I officially detailed something today?

I haven't used DLux on rims but on exterior plastics it's holding up well for the last 1.5 month so far. Still beads extremely well and spray a dirty bumper with a bit of water and it looks new before you even wash it.

The Gyeon Tire Express (not rims again but still) has also been working very well. I like that it's dark black but satin, not glossy like you've lacquered your tires. I find that it does fade but still stays clean looking for at least several weeks or more which is better than most dressings which don't last the first rain. It's rained the last few days here and it still looks good.
