I have an ARB Summit front bumper (~200lbs.) and a 10K winch (~70lbs). I recently installed OME w/613 springs. I only get .75” on PS and .5” on DS of droop ie:
Truck on level ground, I can jack up the PS only .75” before the tire is off the ground, due to the shock being maxed out on extension. This makes it where the shocks are going fully extended and popping on rough roads. I tried to test it off road and didn’t make it 10 feet before it was obvious I can’t be off road. How much droop do you have with your OME lift?

Well, after reading this, it’s apparent my truck is exactly the same as yours. I kept saying it’s due to not having the weight of the winch installed, but you just broke my dreams. I’ve wondered what my trucks famous OME ‘pop’ is on potholes and you finally explained it- unfortunately haha.

Sounds like we should have saved a bit longer and went mid-travel. :monocle:

What's an OME mid-travel kit piece together for? I'm glad you figured the reason for the popping, tho this is annoying to say the least...can one just "simply" add a longer stroke shock into the mix?

This rig isn’t even driveable off road or even on kinda shitty road. It’s absolutely unacceptable. This is probably the 15th lifted truck ive owned and it is the absolute worst, at this point, that I’ve ever owned. .75” droop is no way in hell acceptable. I’ll be calling ARB in the morning. I’m running $4K worth of their shit so they better have an answer!

I had a Smittybilt H20 10K plus the weight with a winch bumper that weighed close to 130lbs with OME 614's on my 07. Zero issues. OME front coilovers gave me close to 2.75 inch lift. Never bottomed out at all rockin and rolling here in Colorado but then again that ARB bumper is pretty heavy. :notsure:

Wow fair enough, I’m waiting to hear what they say now too. I haven’t lifted my truck in the air from concrete for some time. I’m used to the jack pushing into the gravel so maybe I’m just thinking I don’t have much droooop. I’ll have to sneak a test in.

I’m not gunna lie to you, I just assumed it was a relatively normal noise as I’ve driven it for a couple years now and the shocks seem fine. Zero leaks, or fade, just the occasional pop noise if the tire drops too fast over a harsh pothole.

I never had any marks on my coils from the uca hitting it at full droop. That ARB bumper is heavy. Those coils should be more than good enough though.

Check your coils for hit mark's for lack of better word.

Took mine off road many times I dont have any of those symptoms from my OME setup. I'm running medium springs and no bumper or winch.

Seriously, I can’t go 10 feet off road without hearing the banging sound of the shocks maxing out on extension. It’s a relatively loud bang as the suspension tops out. It’s not anything anybody would thing is anywhere near possibly normal. Within 50 feet, it bangs hard 20+ times on the upward stroke of the suspension. I’ll post back when I hear from ARB.

I posted this in the general forum. This number I'm looking for will tell me if my truck is lifted too much & be the reason it's topping out on dirt roads.

"What is the factory front height of a 2014-2018 Tundra 4x4 Crew Max, non-Pro, measuring from the center of the wheel cap to bottom of front fender? Can some of y'all measure this for me (with how many miles you have) & give me your numbers or is this documented somewhere?
If you have aftermarket equipment they changes the weight (ie. compresses the stock suspension @ ride height), this number will be thrown off. I'm looking for stock measurements & need the measurements desperately.

(The reason I use the center of the wheel cap to bottom of fender is it takes out different wheel sizes & different tire sizes & gives a true measurement across all different Tundras)

    Thanks a ton!!!"

Sorry man. Lack of droop is brutal on ride quality.

is the shock maxing out for sure or is the uca limiting down travel?

I disconnected the UCA's & this measurement of droop was with them not attached so it must be the shock.

Another member posted stock measurements & those average 21.8" (mine was 21.5" before lift but w/bumper & winch already installed). After this lift I'm @ 26.5". That means this lift gave me 4.75", when it calls for 2.5". ARB has some answering to do!

Yes, they are the heavy coils (2613) & yes I have a heavy front end (ARB Summit bumper @ +200lbs. & 10K winch w/steel cable @ +60lbs.). They say the springs will give 2.5" lift w/200lbs of front accessories.

It’s obvious the issue is the 613’s are too long. Just spoke with Wheelers. That’s who I bought the lift from and who said I should use the 613’s. When I ordered the kit, I told them the aftermarket equipment I had and was told “definitely go with the 613’s”. This time they said “613’s are for people running full skids, dual batteries and all that extra weight”. Uh, what?!? They requested pics for proof so I sent them via email. They’ve been great thus far so we’ll see how they respond to this blunder. I have faith they’ll make it right. Shitiest part is I’m supposed to be leaving Thursday to go to my deer lease, where I must drive tons of miles off road. As of now, I can’t make it 10’ off road!

    @The Patriot 1776

Got the truck measurements for ya. It seems I have 2” more droop than your rig :monocle:

    Sitting flat:
Hub center to fender = 25”

Front jacked up tire off ground:
    Hub center ti fender =27.75”

My drivers/pass are within 1/4” of eachother there so didn’t get too specific on measurements. I obviously have much more droop than you.

The only thing I did for the lift that was out of the normal install was I cut droop-relief notches out of the lower shock mounting point on lower control arms. Which can be seen in the pic with the red circle. I just cut a space for the shock to enter when full drooped. Maybe this is your binding point?

Thanks! How long have you had your coils? Have they broken in much since you installed them? I’m thinking I should’ve ordered the 614’s like I had planned.
My truck sitting on the ground is 1.5” taller than yours. Flat ground mine is 26.5-26.75”. Full droop is 27.5”, so droop is pretty much the same as yours. Mine is sitting too high.

Interesting, I also have coachbuilder shims installed as well which makes that more confusing. I’m sure curious what ARB says...

My coils are about 2 years old and 20,000km. Been off-roading handful of times. I would say after the first month of settling, been static since. That first month after lift, I had a coil sounding pop that would come at driver side full lock turn, it went away after settled. Now just a random pothole pop (which is clearly a shock bottom out noise (not just stressed coils etc)

ARB told me no way I got that much lift from this set and send pics and part numbers. I did that. The numbers don’t lie! I told him my bumper and winch and asked what springs I should go with and he stated 613. Then I explained the whole scenario and pretty much said I was full of shit. I don’t have much faith in their warranty program so we’ll see. Haven’t heard back from Wheelers yet.

Yep. My 613’s are stiff enough that I haven’t considered a sway bar since.

Let’s see some suspension pics please. I’m wondering if there’s something binding your truck in the full droop position? How does compression feel?

Toytec recommended the 614's. The 613's would have been overkill. I got the 614's and ended up with a decent ride on off road trails and really no issues. I mentioned earlier I had close to 2.75" lift. A tad under.
