Alright family.. looking for some guidance, insight, assistance, advice, or (E) All of the Above.

Taking off to Alaska shortly and the northern region in which I will inhabit, recommends a block heater, oil pan heater, battery blanket, etc.. to winterize your vehicle throughout the extreme cold weather season. Does anyone have any recommendations on modifications to make, and/or brands..links.. sites to make this experience enjoyable??
    Thank you in advance!

-40 plus at times in Montana all I have is an engine block heater. Never used a battery heater. If your battery is more than 5 Years old replace it regardless of how it tests. A small space heater in cab is nice but not a must have.

Canada here. Block heater is sufficient, especially since the 5.7 uses such thin oil.

Try not to park into the wind when it’s super cold and make sure your battery is in good condition.

In Canada, one is available as a Tundra option. Still haven’t seen one in person though.

I lived 5 years in AK; depends on where you’re going (Anchorage rarely got below -30°F and the interior toward Fairbanks and Tok can get to -60°F... and beyond) and whether you’re parking overnight in a heated garage, unheated garage or if you’re just rude to your truck and you leave to go chance in the elements.

    What part of AK?

Lifelong Alaskan here (Anchorage / Palmer / Wasilla area). Have never had anything besides a block heater. If you are getting stationed up at Eilson / Wainwright, it gets a bit colder up there, but still should be fine with just plugging your vehicle in.

To be honest. I haven’t plugged in my vehicles in probably a decade. I just hit the remote start.

Another Canadian here. It gets to -40 a few times every winter here. Block heater, synthetic oil and a remote start are my add ons of choice for winter. I've never used a battery blanket, oil pan heater or space heater in the cab. Nobody I know does either.

Remote start. Could not imagine not having one in freezing conditions. Good for the you, good for the truck.

I appreciate the feedback gang.. block heater and remote start seem to be the must haves. Too easy!
I’ll be in the Fairbanks area very soon..

You will use both those features up there! Especially the remote start...if you leave your truck parked more than 30 hours, that's the only time I'd plug in...you got this...buy some good gloves too!
