Wiper blades

So I figured out this morning that I need to replace my wiper blades. I haven't looked at these at all yet and was curious if I can pick some up at Autozone or something, or if I needed to order specific Toyota ones due to the blade connection. When I had my Silverado I had to take it in since it was some special connection, I dont know.

I know I've seen wiper blades on Sparks Parts, so I wasn't sure. What are my options?

RainX.com I went with quantums cause that's all autozone had... no issues quick connects real easy also try washer fluid as well

 

I believe the blades have replaceable inserts you can get from the dealer. Don't throw away your old ones in case you want to go back to them.

 

unless i'm missing something here, when you buy wiper blades included is an array of different adapters for various vehicles. the system that works for the tundra is in there too. you do not need to visit your dealer to get anything special.

 

That's what I needed to know. Never had a problem with blades until the Silverado and none of the local stores had blades that would fit their connection. Had to take it in and paid WAY too much for wiper blades, ha. So just wanted to make sure the Tundra was not the same.

For my 2009 Tacoma I just bought inserts at the dealer. I hate auto parts stores don't sell just the inserts. Why throw away good stuff. They worked best. Last time I tried to buy inserts only they had to order 10 and would have made me buy all 10. I have not found any complete blades that work as well.

 

I used to use Bosch Icons. #1 in AK when I was there. Darn good. Turns out that the Toyota OEM winter wipers are just as good as the Icons at half the price and look just like the Icons. Hmmmm......

Sams club is also cheap and good quality.

 

My Sam's sells Peak wipers for less than $10 a pair. They are worth $10 as long as it never rains.

 

Any markings on the OEMs that would indicate such? The blades that came on my truck are incredible. Been running mine (assuming they're OEM)through the road brine / salt trash that gets put on our roads up here since august (when I bought CPO) and they're still going strong.

I've run top of the line Bosch, rainx, trico, etc which have been good- but they wear out in 3-4 months up here. What's on my truck now still feel / perform like they're brand new.
Getting the itch to buy new ones because of how long I've had them but these still work well.

 

Toyota made it so you could save $$$$ on the blades and spend BIG $$$$$ on other stuff

 

Toyota "Sightline" wipers.

 

Sparks Parts has the Sightline wipers, in a 600mm and 650mm. I guess one is driver and one is passanger, huh. $14.49 each

My local dealer had a special sale. $12+tax for a pair. Bought two pair.

 

TundraDude34 has a video on You Tube where he talks about wiper blades. Specifically RainX vs OEM and he said the OEM do better.

I like his channel a lot. It's worth subscribing too if you're not.

 

RainX are so*so at best. Not a good wiper to compare to OEM imho. I like a wiper that excels in winter too. The Bosch Icons certainly did that. I paid $50 for a pair in Anchorage. O'Reilly's. I got there in Nov. Needed new blades. Asked the good folks at O'Reilly's what's everyone using up here? "Bosch Icons. Check out the trash can out front." Sure enough the trash can was full of empty Bosch Icon plastic blisters. Went back inside and got the Bosch's. The Sightlines are almost as good. For the price point....better. IMHO.

 

Keep your windshield clean and use a good glass sealant and you won't really need the wipers unless you are going below 40 mph. I use Adams Polishes Glass Sealant. Lasts at least 6 months between applications.

 

I found this out a week ago. Toyota of the dessert sent me coupons one being for the replacement blades which cost $25. Wiper replacements are just as cheap or maybe a few bucks more.

 

Great advice..but you will want good wipers when it's 20 below and near white out conditions, towing a trailer, and texting like my friend Ken did hauling a load of his custom made log furniture down to Kenai Peninsula. I survived. I really hated riding shotgun with Ken. Really hated it.......Like being in the open and a Banzai attack was taking place.

 

Yes they have all sorts of adapter pieces in the box .........but they don't always have the ones that fit Tundra.....at least my 2017. I bought a Michelin Ceramic blade for my truck and after futzing with pieces looked at the michelinwipers.com website for instructions.......guess what this blade doesn't fit Tundra arm at this time

 

Don't dick around with that 1 size and 4 adapters fits all shit. Just get the real McCoy. The Mama Toyota OEM blades. They're about $20 a side before any discounts you might find. I just bought a set for my 2015 Sequoia (same as the Tundra) and was reminded that the swap out takes, oh, about, you know, 1.5 minutes per side.

Stop crying. Get the real deal. Make your life happy. And use the recaptured time to do something fun like fondle Mama's boobage.
